Second-story Gable Dormer Addition- Master Bedroom
Master bedroom addition to second-story using a gable dormer (1 of 2 on house). Design and work by Flying Dormer, including the custom-made platform bed with 6-drawer storage on rollers; custom wood-clad windows, vaulted cedar ceiling and exposed beam; built-in shelving that extend along wall by bed to hold table lamps leaving floor space open for a cleaner, more contemporary/minimalist look. Frosted side panel windows bring in light from the hallway where a skylight was installed, and create an interesting architectural element in the room. Dark espresso-colored bamboo flooring.
The dormer was built with a double roof with ample air space for ventilation, so the second-floor stays cool in the summer.
