Uprising Builders did an amazing job renovating our tired kitchen on a shoestring budget. We invited Moses and Alyscia over to consult with us on what was possible with the space, and in every way they exceeded our expectations. They worked with us to understand our style and vision, and developed a proposal that was exactly what we were looking for. Moses has a deep knowledge of houses in the area and is really a jack-of-all-trades when it comes to electrical, plumbing, installation, and finish work. They completed the project on budget and far more quickly than we thought possible (about 3 weeks). We even were able to use our kitchen throughout the renovation, thanks to Moses' careful planning, professionalism, and cleanliness. When there was a small issue with getting the upper cabinets to fit with the roofline, Moses was resourceful and came up with a creative solution to the problem. We are so pleased and would definitely hire Uprising Builders again.

I cannot begin to describe how much I now love my home, the pictures do not do it justice. I live in a historic building where the walls lean and it truly took a master craftsman to bring my vision to life. I cannot stress this enough, I had to heed the advice and expertise of Uprising Builders to achieve this outcome. A simple space was transformed into a modern apartment complete with Crown Moulding, trim work along all the baseboards, built ins and brand new bathroom upgrades. Unforeseen work was also skillfully completed when the team recognized structural damage due to termites, and without hesitation amended the contract to include replacing the damaged infrastructure. I must say the dedication to detail that the team delivered was above and beyond expectation. I highly recommend Uprising Builders as I will also be using them on all future projects!

I had the pleasure doing business with Uprising Builders earlier this year. The work executed was to the highest standards and showed an incredible level of detail and craftsmanship. I would highly recommend this company to anyone who is in search of a first class craftsman and builder.

I normally don't take the time to write reviews but I had to rate this contractor. I got an estimate to tear down and rebuild the brick wall going down to my basement on the exterior of my Rambler which was built in the early 50s. The contractor showed up on time and discussed my options to rip down the existing structure and rebuild it including doing it so the structure is now part of the blueprint for the house. He discussed possibly cleaning the bricks and reusing them if possible and pricing that option as well as buying new bricks if the old ones were not re-useable. After the demolition we had to go with the latter and he went out and got me samples to match the house and gave me ample time to think about them and choose the best option for ME. Once the contract was in place, the work was completed on time and beautifully. I have a beautiful new wall with cinder blocks on the inside and a lovely wood covering with roof flush to the side of the house and a gutter to take the water away from the house. The previous structure had a gap between the roof and the house which allowed water to enter the stairwell and there was no gutter. I am so happy with the professionalism of the crew and the workmanship; they cleaned up all the trash at the end of each work day and above all the water problem from water seeping though the old porous structure has been eliminated. I can sleep like a baby when it storms instead of waking up to go see if water is coming in.

The Uprising Co built a 70 feet flagstone wall. Moses planed the project, informed me about every step he would take: replacing the old wall, building the inner wall consisting of stone and concrete, and on top of that set the flagstone layer in an artistic maner. The work was done swiftly and efficiently. It looks truly stunning and uplifts the neighborhood. People stop and compliment the wall. I recommend the Uprising Co without any reservations. We hired this husband and wife team to remodel our fireplace area for us... They were to demo some of the brick fire place, install built-ins and cover the face of the fireplace with tile. The wood work for the built-ins was great, the finishing of it was not that great and the tile work was very unprofessional. To elaborate, the wood work wasn't sanded very well so was rough to the touch and can see several chipped areas. The paint job was also not quality as I had they paint behind the built ins a turquoise color and it's patchy and the lines are not clean. Lastly the tile work... just horrible and to make it worse they were so unprofessional that they would take no blame for the fact that the tile wasn't layed properly and blamed my and my husband. Said we selected the wrong kind of tiles and "no body uses tile like that around fire places"... and the wife is supposed to be a designer? Let me explain the tile work... not only did they not match up the tiles all the way around, but the grout lines are very uneven, some tiles are pushed in more than others... and then they didn't even seal and caulk when they were done. When we gave them an opportunity to fix their bad work the only options we were give were for us to pay them to do that part of the work again ($300) and we would also have to buy the "proper tiling"... I told them I no longer wanted them working on it and just wanted them to replace 3 sheets of the tiles I purchased so I could get someone else to correct the problem (they were the tiles with mesh on the back). Each sheet was $14.98 + tax... I paid over $5000 for this project and was asking for a refund of approximately $47.64. The husband got absolutely furious at my husband and refused stating they would meet us half way and cover only 2 sheets. My husband agreed because it just wanted it all over... so we later received a check to $28 and then in the memo section on the check they note that refund was due to "error of owner". I have included a picture of a section of the tile work we were unhappy with. It is not very clear but basically they cut the tile work and did not line up the sections... but yet it was "our fault" because we bought the "wrong tile". That makes no sense to me as it relates to laying tile. In summary, I would NEVER recommend a business like this to anyone as they are unprofessional, lack customer service, and are not willing to fix their F-ups! I believe they are a start up... YOU WILL NEVER BE TRULY SUCCESSFULLY IF YOU CONTINUE TO TREAT YOUR CUSTOMERS LIKE THIS! STAY AWAY!

A few years ago, I bought a house in DC. Right from the moment I walked it, I was excited about the design and the attention to detail that the team had put in to creating this space that came to be mine for 8 years. It was clearly a labor of love and I was the lucky recipient. Moses and Stephen worked on the layout to make it flow but still keep some privacy from the street. They developed a color scheme that was soothing and versitile. And they applied accents and special touches such as knobs in the kitchen and light fixtures and even a stained glass window that gave my home such character. The quality of workmanship such as the custom built cabinets in the kitchen was wonderful. I would highly recommend Uprising to help you create your next dream home.
