Black Swan Hearth & Home

We purchased a pellet stove three years ago and everything went well. Now three years later there is a problem with the stove (there is a burning smell throughout the entire house). We stopped using the stove and called them to have them come out to check it out and fix the problem. They gave us a date of March 25th to come out which is two months from the date we called them!! We bought the stove for extra warmth in the winter. What do we need the stove in the spring for?? Told us they will only come out if and when they are in our area???? Would not recommend them to anyone!!!!!!!

As part of a remodel of a family room, Black Swan removed an old, wood burning fireplace and replaced it with a gas-fired insert with stone face and mantel. We are quite pleased with the end result, which is shown in the accompanying photo. As is probably the case with most remodels, the project was not without its anxious moments. When Black Swan began the project, the build-ins on either side of the fireplace had not been constructed and we did not even have drawings for them. While we showed Black Swan photos taken from the Internet of installations similar to what we had in mind, we didn't have any scale drawings from which they could work. In particular, we did not have any drawings that showed the amount by which the fireplace was to project into the room and precisely how it was to tie into the built-ins. This lead to a problem early in the construction of the new fireplace, because Black Swan started to construct the fireplace so that its face would have projected further into the room than we wished, not as we saw it in our mind's eye. (Perhaps this was our fault - and a cautionary tale -because we went charging ahead with no drawings.) When we expressed concern, Black Swan dealt with the problem quite nicely. Construction was halted. The owner came to the house and we described how what we wanted varied from what was being constructed. We then agreed upon a modified design and construction resumed. Black Swan assisted with installation of AC and low voltage wiring for the flat panel TV that was later installed above the mantel. As noted before, we are quite pleased with the end result.

We purchased a pellet stove from Black Swan and had them install it. No problems, would recommend as well as purchase again.

We were looking for a gas fireplace insert for our home. We were undecided in which direction we want to go and Carrie was excellent in her description of our choices. Carrie's advice was a driving force on why we went with a log set. Ir has been one of the best decisions for our home. Carrie was extremely knowledgeable in this field and I would highly recommend her services in the future.

After looking around online for a new wood burning stove we went to the Black Swan store/showroom in New Milford, CT. Best decision we could have made. Their selection is huge, the staff are super friendly, knowledgeable and helpful (and not pushy at all). I was most worried about the installation since our old stove was really old, but they came and inspected the flue beforehand to check we'd ordered the right one for our home. Because of the set up in our house the cost was several hundred dollars cheaper than they had originally quoted, so add honesty to the reasons why I give them 5 stars. The installation was quick (about an hour) and their guys were completely professional. They cleaned up after themselves and took extra time to explain how to break in the stove (very important) and how to use it efficiently. We had the stove inspected by the town (an absolute must-do for home insurance purposes) and it passed without a problem. Our wood burning stove not only looks great, but it easily heats the house and we've noticed a big difference in the amount of oil we are using. From beginning to end it was a great experience and I can't recommend Black Swan highly enough. Nick C
