I recently collaborated with Margaret Volney on a remodel and expansion project for my new house, and I am thrilled to share my experience. What truly set Margaret apart was her ability to create stunning, photo-realistic 3-D renderings that brought my vision to life. Prior to construction, Margaret presented design solutions via 3-D renderings, she developed floor plans, and assisted in selecting cabinetry, lighting, plumbing, etc. Once the decisions were made, Margaret supplied my contractor with remodel floor plans, lighting plans, and plumbing plans, based on my final decisions. Margaret's 3D renderings allowed me to visualize my future space with astonishing clarity and detail, empowering me to make confident and informed decisions throughout the project. Furthermore, Margaret's attentiveness to how my family and I function within our home was truly exceptional. Margaret was very patient working with us. She gave us several options for each area to choose from, most with ideas we never even imagined would work. Margaret is a perfectionist- there are things we didn't notice, but she pointed them out and made sure they were just right. She will stay with you through the whole project, no matter how long it lasts, to make sure everything is the way you want. This was our second project with Margaret and we are very happy with the results of both.

Margaret Volney is a meticulous and detail oriented Interior Designer. She incorporates her Masters degree Interior design education, her experience to listen to the vague concepts expressed by her clients in order to create a unique vision. She then utilizes computer technology to generate graphics thereby allowing her clients to see exactly what the renovation and color coordination would look like in its final phase before construction begins. Her measurements are exact thus enabling the general contractor to efficiently and effectively bring that vision to life. We have used Margaret on two large custom projects in our home. We have been thrilled with the final outcome with each project.

I got this Designer from the Houzz website. Was hesitant due to not having a word of mouth referral but soon found I needn't have wondered. I have never worked with an Interior Designer before so had no idea what to expect. She did allay my fears and nervousness. She was (is) good to work with. She was always punctual which is a good start. A multitude of questions and conversation to learn about what we want and what we were looking for. On subsequent visits she always came prepared with presentation scenarios or ideaboards to help us actually visualize what Our room could/would look like. At first it was the floor plans choice with placement of what pieces were staying and what was new. Then onto fabric samples in wonderful, varied books of color and designs. Finally ideaboards with pictorial visions of our room itself with carpets, pillows, the works. Options galore. And variety in looks. We didn't end up with a choice of the same feel in different colors. We were very pleased with the results. She brought the ideas to what we wanted, not what she wanted and made the process enjoyable. At each phase we were excited at where we were in the process but also we were excited about what was coming up next. Our room itself is not complete, a work in progress but, thanks to Margaret, we almost know what it will look like and we are well on our way. Having gone thru this process to date, for future areas the thing that I would change is perhaps having the choice of 3 designs to start out and if none of them worked I would go on from there. For us there would be less confusion (we have a hard time making decisions I guess. Too many good choices.) and it might save a bit of money. All this being said, we have more house for Margaret to work on when we are done with this area. The sky's the limit in her hands. Will happily submit photos when it's all complete.

We had such an enjoyable experience working with Margaret on custom sconces. She specified a pair of sconces that would compliment the existing antique chandelier in the client's home. I hired Margaret to decorate the interior of my new home and she did an excellent job. I personally love the colors of all my bedrooms, wall paper on my powder room. she designed my drapes and window treatment, Everyone that comes to my house compliments everything she did but most especially the window treatment and my master bedroom curtains, they are one of a kind. She is very professional,cares to accomplish what I really like and very patient when We were going to fabric selections and colors. in the next two years want to build a new house and definitely hire her from construction to the completion.

I have had the pleassure of getting to know Margaret Volney over the last year on a business level as well as a personal one. I asked her to critique the ideas that I had for improving my house. My goal was to use what I had, redo what I could, and prioritise my wish list. She listened and suggested starting with the home office, and proposed the following plan: 1. Move my home office to the other spare bedroom where there was more light. 2. Paint the walls a happy and lively color. 3. Prominently display the bench my father made from the old tree that fell in front of my childhood house. Add lighting and a picture display of my pets. I'm about 3/4 finished and Iove the results. Can't wait to work with her again on my next project.

Regardless of project size she brings a wealth of design knowledge coupled with an outstanding color sense. We have worked with Margaret on more than one occasion over the past several years. Our first project with Margaret was to evaluate and properly stage our home in preparing it for sale. This effort involved painting, some furniture purchases and room staging/rearranging. Outcome, picture perfect! More recently, Margaret assisted us with a complete renovation of our Carolina room.
