Caroline Banks Art

The circle is a constant preoccupation: the most elemental and universal shape, it forms the core of much of Caroline's current work. It also connects to her meditation on capturing the fugitive nature of memory, the existence of a gesture, a trace that would otherwise be lost. She uses the expressive gestural qualities of brush and ink combined with gesso, paint, gilding and piercing in her exploration to record the immaterial. As in life, chance and working on the edge of control play their part.
