We would strongly caution anyone from hiring this company as a general contractor of a full our kitchen reno. Although contracted to oversee all subcontractors, John did not, and maintained very poor communication with the homeowner and subcontractors, completely ignoring the need for an HVAC contractor to reconnect heating vents to upstairs bedrooms after a wall came down. The finish on painted cabinets is rough lacking ample coverage in many places. John was inattentive to specifications of purchased appliances that were provided well in advance of construction, which as a result required our compromising of design and yielded a very narrow top cabinet. The entire row of top cabinets was constructed with unlevel pitched bases, requiring a complete rebuild. Jon would not return phone messages, texts or email communications, and completely pulled off the job abandoning it unfinished, with absolutely no communication. When he was on site, which was only a few times over a 4 month period of time, he was often curt, condescending and sarcastic. He claimed we could have things however we wanted, and then did not deliver, stating this is how I do things. Our experience was anything but custom, nor quality.

Jon Lis (Normanskill Custom Cabinetry) designed and completed a major renovation in our home that included the kitchen, family / living room, dining room and installation of hardwood floors throughout the first floor. An amazing and truly spectacular end product!! All cabinets, book shelves, fireplace enhancements and crown molding were custom built! We continue to receive rave reviews from all who see it for the first time. We are now working with Jon in the design & remodel of our master bedroom & bathroom in Jan 2020 with great anticipation! John Lis has worked on several projects in our home beginning with a custom library with built in cabinetry for the books, a computer workstation, and beautiful window-pane pocket doors to close off the room. The finished look was perfect and exactly what we wanted. To ensure that we got the right color on our oak stain, John provided us with several samples from which we could select. Several years later when we had another craftsman working on a small project for us and we were very disappointed with the work that was being performed, we called John who stepped in and saved the day, not only correcting the issues the other craftsman had left but improving the project ten-fold. At that time we were in the planning stages of a huge kitchen remodel project that coincided with an addition being built to our home. We had been working with a traditional kitchen design company and we were close to signing a contract but we were hesitating because the design company was not going to be able to give us exactly what we really wanted. When John heard of our plans he asked us to consider him for the project. We met with John several times and talked through all of our "wants" and "needs." John not only listened he brought even more wonderful ideas to the table. In the end we got exactly what we wanted and more! The end result was a kitchen that should be shown in design and architectural books. And the best part is that the cost of John's custom work was far less than the stock cabinets we would have received from the kitchen design company. The 440 sq ft kitchen is full of custom pieces built by John to our specifications. Nearly every day, I comment on how happy I am with the kitchen and how hard it would be to move because I would hate to no longer have this great space. In addition to the kitchen work, John also upgraded the builder-grade woodwork in our living and dining rooms with a custom fireplace wall, decorative columns and incredible crown molding. We couldn't be happier with all that John has done for us and we hope to bring him back soon for work in our family room.

We have worked with John Lis on several remodeling projects for our home and he has always delivered a beautifully completed project. When we decided to remodel our kitchen we contacted several companies and they could not deliver what we wanted. John listed to us and designed the perfect kitchen for us. We couldn't be happier with his workmanship. We recently had John back to remodel our living room/dining area. Again John offered helpful suggestions and we now have a warm and inviting living area. When working with John he has listened to what we want, offered helpful suggestions and delivered a well crafted project.

I hired John to make a built-in, custom cabinet across the front of my store in a bay window area. I gave him very little input, and he designed a magnificent counter with variable storage space - some open space, some with doors, some with cubby holes. It met our needs perfectly! The workmanship was highly professional, and very beautiful. John himself was very easy to work with and accommodating of our needs, as well as very adept at translating our vague requirements into a perfect counter/cabinets. His professionalism, courtesy, and willingness to work with us was terrific, and made the whole process rewarding and painless.
