Susan did a beautiful job updating our house and I love just being in my house now. She walked us through how colors and shapes flow across a room and throughout the house. I was pregnant when we started this project and she worked to get a few spaces ready so I could have comfortable spaces postpartum. We did end up going over budget and several issues came up when furniture arrived. Susan worked promptly to resolve issues such as a mirror not being able to be hung sideways and cracks in a framed photo but these did slow down the overall project.

Susan worked with us to create a beautiful, welcoming and comfortable living room for our new home. She followed up with us regularly and worked hard to meet the fast deadline. We particularly love the color palette and use of various lighting. We have got many compliments of the space from housewarming guests. The project exceeded our budget a little but also exceeded our expectation :).

Dear Susan, I think we've just about finished all the details necessary to my move into Fox Hill. That is to say that you have accomplished wonders! You get things done very efficiently and with consummate taste. As you know, I've not been looking forward to moving on. You have made my outlook more cheerful than I could have imagined. We have been working with Susan dearborn for 7 years. Susan was our interior designer from when we moved from the suburbs to the South End in downtown Boston. Working with Susan over the past several years has been my pleasure. When designing, Susan gave me many choices of fabrics and furniture for my new home and stayed in budget. Her staff of professionals for installation and design work are exceptional. Susan has always been there for our family over the years. I highly recommend Susan for her easy to work with and her eye for beautiful designs.

I highly recommend Susan Dearborn for any home design project. We worked with Susan on a complete remodel of our house. She worked with our contractor to help us create the rooms then helped us select all of the furnishings once the construction was completed. From the outset, Susan impressed us with her creativity and attention to detail. She took the time to listen to our preferences and ideas, and then incorporated them into a stunning design that perfectly captured our vision. Throughout the project, Susan was a pleasure to work with. She was always available to answer our questions and provide updates, and her communication style was clear and concise. Susan planned the layout for the furniture for our new home and helped us choose the furniture and related furnishing, including draperies. She also supplied most of the furniture and draperies and some accessories. The job was difficult, in that our new place is a narrow city brownstone on three floors. Susan did an excellent job. She started out by working to understand what we liked and did not like. She was open to our ideas, but made sure the overall design was kept coherent. She also was cognizant of budget constraints. The end result was above and beyond what we expected. It is sophisticated, elegant and very livable. The quality of her contractors was also excellent - the painter/wallpaper man was very easy to work with and was of the highest quality - the moving company that arranged the furniture was the most professional and courteous movers i have every used - the carpet layers were also top notch. I would highly recommend Susan.

We have worked with Susan for 7 years on a series of projects. In fact, she has helped us redesign nearly every room in our house, most recently a large addition on our home. The results have been really wonderful, with all of the rooms—new and old—flowing together nicely, even though different elements were completed at different times. Susan is a very skilled and knowledgeable designer who knew how to translate our ideas into reality. She took the time to get to know us and our preferences, and with each project, she offered us a series of alternatives until we found the design direction that was right for us. Susan’s special quality is that she truly takes the time to know her clients, and brings a practical, real life understanding about the way families live in their homes. We have a large extended family, adult children and a grandchild, and in every discussion we had with Susan, the function of the spaces for our growing family was a key element. The result has been a very livable, welcoming and beautiful home that works well for two people or twenty--depending on the day. Susan has an excellent understanding about what is involved with a major construction project, and her advice on the project details--from the early planning stages with the architect until the final picture was hung—was always “spot on” and invaluable to the success of our project. Susan is an exceptional project manager who helps her clients set a realistic budget at the beginning of each project and then works hard to stay within that budget. In every project we have worked on together, she has been able to complete the project on the target date. She has developed long standing relationships with talented vendors who work with her to provide carpets, tile, cabinetry, lighting, draperies, etc. The quality of their work is excellent, and they are very loyal and responsive to Susan, always working with her to make sure her client is happy with the end result. Working with Susan is a pleasure, and the results have been tremendous. I look forward to our next project together.

Susan helped us renovate our first floor, including kitchen, living room, floor refinishing, and selecting some new furniture and accessories. She drove the design, selected subcontractors, oversaw the work, and always watched out for our best interests

I hired Susan to completely re-do a house I bought in Florida back in 2004. We did a complete gut renovation and she oversaw the project from start to finish. The final product was and still is amazing. I have not changed a thing in over 11 years except to make room for my ever growing art collection. I also had her do my office in Palm Beach. I haven't had another project yet but the next one will be with her again. Love her to pieces.

Susan has been a key player since the beginning of our project. We started working with her as soon as our architects gave us plans for our new house. She made a number of useful improvements in the design of the house and helped us work with the architects to get the design that we wanted. She wasn't afraid to go toe to toe with the architects when she felt our needs weren't being met. Susan does a very careful job of listening to us so she could really understand what was important to us. It even got to the point where we all laughed about how well she could predict what we were going to choose before she asked us. She has helped us with all aspects of the house from choosing appliances, kitchen cabinets, tile, plumbing fixtures, bathroom and kitchen layout, furniture, and interior and exterior colors. We are very happy with the results. Susan got us together with knowledgeable and helpful people in each of the trades which allowed us to use their professional skills and advice as well as hers. She also chose vendors whose quality and price points matched our needs. She even found the builder that we used, who has done an outstanding job at a very competitive price. Susan has a clear understanding of the construction process and what it takes to produce an excellent result. She scheduled the hundreds of decisions that had to be made so that we were prepared by the time the construction process needed our answers. We were impressed to see Susan working with the painters and tile installer to make sure that their work did not overlap or follow the cabinetry installation to minimize risk to the cabinetry. We would recommend Susan to anybody involved in these kinds of projects. We will definitely ask for her help again.

We hired Susan Dearborn for assistance with the full redesign of two bathrooms as well as a partial redesign (backsplash, counters) of our kitchen. Susan was wonderful to work with throughout the process. When shopping for materials it was clear she had an eye for our design style and she was flexible in substituting comparable materials when items were beyond our price point. She was also onsite for installation to make sure the contractors (stone, tile, shower doors, flooring, plumbers etc.) were completing the project to her and our high standards. She was a pleasure to work with and I highly recommend her services.

She has a wonderful approach to getting to know her owners and incorporating their designs and looks while also challenging them to think differently. My husband and I hired Susan Dearborn to help us with the renovation of a 1920's Colonial that we had just purchased from my in-laws who had owned the house for over 40 years. The last time it had been renovated was in the 1960's. Susan was instrumental in helping us figure out what should be done to the house, laying it all out for us, working with the contractors and staying in budget. It was very important to us to modernize everything without being trendy. We wanted to keep the beautiful, classic, Colonial feel. We pretty much did a full renovation from top to bottom on three floors. Kitchen, Living room, dining room, sunroom, five bedrooms and three and one half bathrooms. She helped us pick all of the tile, countertops, cork floors for the kitchen, paint colors throughout, stain for the hard wood, laid out the recessed lighting for the electrician and where every switch plate should go in the entire house. Redesigned the master bedroom and full bath totally by moving walls and adding two walk in closets, added moldings, built ins, fireplace surround, coffered ceiling in Living room, designed a gorgeous kitchen, helped choose new windows, the list goes on and on. Since the renovation was finished Susan hasa come back and helped with some other things, most recently helping us choose a runner for our stairs among other things. I'm not sure we could have done it without her. Well, we could have but it wouldn't have turned out the same. Our home is gorgeous.

Susan designed a new kitchen layout for our home, including moving walls, changing plumbing, etc. She identified and hired the appropriate contractors and worked closely with the kitchen cabinet company. She worked through all of the details of the job with us (selection of countertops, tile, lighting, wall colors, flooring, window treatments). Susan ensured a very high quality job and we love our remodeled kitchen. We have also worked with Susan on the design and decorating of many other rooms in our home. She is very professional and knowledgable about all aspects of design. We would hire her again for any interior design job, big or small.
