Last March I purchased a foreclosure fixer-upper in Chestnut Hill. The first floor was broken down into a series of small, dark rooms, with a drop ceiling and 5+ layers of linoleum flooring. We contracted Ernst Brothers to renovate the entire first floor which included a completely new kitchen and the addition of a first floor powder room. The job ended up being a much bigger project than we anticipated (typical for a 100 year old house that had previously undergone a series of poorly constructed renovations/additions by other owners!). Ernst brought our vision to life, brilliantly uncovering the home's original 1890s bones but with a new open layout and modern amenities while still staying true to the home's historical integrity. We now have 9.5 foot ceilings and beautiful hardwood flooring throughout the entire home… which they matched up seamlessly and without any awkward transitions to the original 100 year old wood flooring of the home. I have a brand new kitchen, powder room, plumbing, electrical, and an open floor plan. Ernst was extremely clean, detailed, and thorough throughout the entire process. We are thrilled with our "new" home, but what is perhaps the most notable trait that really sets Ernst apart from the rest is their accessibility. They are truly the most accessible and attentive contractor that I have ever had the privilege to work with - and I am not an easy client! I appreciate all of their hard work and care and would certainly recommend Joe and Tim (and team!) to anyone.

My wife and I have now done two major renovations to our home with Ernst Brothers. While both projects caused a significant disruption in our day to day lives, the people from Ernst Brothers were at all times prompt, professional and respectful of our home. In late 2013 we completed a major house renovation with Ernst Brothers which included complete remodeling of our kitchen, three baths, master closet and laundry room. This project which spanned 9 months from the initial phone call with Joe Ernst to completion of the project, met all of our expectations. We are extremely satisfied with the finished product. Joe, his team members and his sub-contractors were a pleasure to work with throughout the 5 month construction phase. Joe also brought significant experience and creative thinking to help us take our rough ideas to the final plan. I would recommend Joe and his team highly and without reservation.

We contracted with Ernst Brothers for a major renovation to our first floor including a new kitchen, powder room, mudroom and hardwood floors throughout. From the outset, Ernst displayed the requisite knowledge to perform the work in a professional and timely manner. They were without a doubt the best contractor we have ever worked with and wholeheartedly endorse them for any size project. Their attention to every detail put us in a comfort zone that allowed us to trust them with all aspects of the project. They were continuously on the job and were very responsive to our questions, no matter how minute the issue may have been. All communications were answered in a timely manner. Also, they were very concerned about a clean worksite and did the best that they could on a daily basis to leave the job as clean as possible. The results are beyond the high expectations that we had. They finished our project within the timeframe that was set forth in the contract. Props to Joe, Tim, Rick, Tony, Dave etc. You can't go wrong in choosing Ernst.

We used Ernst Brothers to build an addition on to our primary residence and to restore our shore house after damage from Hurricane Sandy.. We were very satisfied with the results from both projects. Everyone involved was professional, all the work was completed to a high standard of quality, and the projects were finished according to the agreed timeline. I have had the pleasure of working with Ernst Bros. on 2 projects, 1 commercial (office space) and 1 residential (complete kitchen and master bath renovation). Frankly, I'm spoiled for anyone else. Their 30 years of experience in quite evident in how they approach each job, big or small. Organized, very. Thorough, extremely. Creative, indeed. Transparent, absolutely. Schedules were maintained, and the staff was very professional-both office and field. The kitchen and bath renovation was completed on a vacation home. Having them working so far away, when I couldn't be there everyday to see what was happening, could have been a nerve-wracking experience. Honestly, I never had to worry about anything because Ernst worried enough for everyone. They were also quite tidy on the job site, protecting every surface, and cleaning up thoroughly at the end of each day. Any issues were dealt with quickly and transparently. I was given thorough and frequent updates on progress. Most importantly, the finished product is absolutely gorgeous! I'm over-the-moon with the results, as is my client! Every detail carefully considered, and finished beautifully. The office space was quite different, but equally successful. The project had an extremely tight time-line and a tightly-managed budget. A mix of materials was used-from vintage to retail, high and low, to create a unique, creative and highly-functional space. It was amazing when done! Thank you, guys!

Ernst Brothers designed as well as built my new kitchen. They were professional, detail oriented, and provided the highest level of workmanship.

Ernst Brothers beautifully brought our vision to reality in our master bedroom and bath. Though we knew what we wanted, the design was enhanced and constructed with the highest standard of quality by EB. Walls were removed and two vanities, a shower and toilet were all relocated with new plumbing. A new large window was installed and old windows replaced. Tray ceilings with beautifully designed moldings were added to both the bedroom and bath, a favorite feature along with the heated marble flooring and shower. All new electrical fixtures were installed and relocated in both areas. The project manager and his staff were always professional and respectful of our home and the time frame of the project. Clean up ended every day without exception. We are just thrilled with our new space and especially with the superior quality of the workmanship.
