Ian Hazard Architect

Ian Hazard was appointed to provide architectural design expertise for the internal re-modelling of a 17th century, Grade 2 listed property in a Conservation Area. Few original features remained, so the brief was to develop an internal design approach that was sympathetic to the history and setting of the property, but contemporary in style. By using a very collaborative and thoughtful approach, Ian was able to develop a design that fully met both the client expectations and the stringent requirements of the planning/conservation officers. Ian is very thorough in his approach, and was a pleasure to work with throughout the project, which lasted almost 2 years from initial appointment to final completion.

We needed more space, especially in the kitchen area but also wanted to keep a separate dining room. We had no idea how to make this work and left this brief with Ian to come up with a design. We had several meetings with him to discuss his proposals and the fact that he had made scale models to help us understand the new layout and how it would look on our 1930,s house helped tremendously. We now have a large modern kitchen with garden room which makes the most of a view . The modern design sits remarkably well with our older house. We get many "Wows" from visitors. The overall design has completely changed the way we use our house.
