Über uns
Reid Bruggemann grew up using tools to build creative projects at home. As a teenager, he worked as a stone-cutter at a custom jewelry shop, which introduced him to fine craftsmanship. He also learned basic metalworking skills. He began designing and building furniture as a young adult. It soon became clear that having a strong understanding of materials and technique would help him to create good designs.
In 1995, Reid began a full-time welding apprenticeship in Oregon. He later moved to Brooklyn, where he worked as a professional welder and machinist. Projects at work ranged from industrial equipment to fine furniture and sculpture. During this period he also studied blacksmithing with craftsmen in New York and New Jersey. He was fascinated with the process of forming hot metal. He developed this skill, making fine home furnishings, tools and hardware.
At first, Reid was hired primarily to reproduce antiques. As his clients discovered his interest in design, he was hired to produce one-of-a-kind furniture pieces. Projects have ranged from chairs, tables, beds and lighting fixtures to banisters, doors, shelves, fire screens and fire tools. Reid enjoys working with clients to discover which materials, style and furniture pieces will best compliment their home environment.
Reid currently lives in Denver, CO, where he produces handcrafted furniture for the front range and mountain communities, as well as clients in other parts of the country. Clients include: Lou Reed, Linda Evangelista, Richard Gere, Yannick Noah and Paul Tudor Jones.
