Drawing from the client’s personal history and lifestyle, Mia Rao Design infuses character into a space. The ultimate objective for each project is to achieve a well-balanced, beautiful interior which is functional and uniquely yours. Established in 2001, our Chicago-based, full-service interior design team focuses on livable modern and classic design for both residential and commercial interiors. Mia collaborates with her clients to surpass conventional design ideas and to welcome a fresh approach to creating the ideal space. Her trademark intuitive nature allows her to connect with a client’s personality, needs and lifestyle. She uses that connection to transform a space into a true reflection of its occupants. Mia also draws design inspiration from the textures, patterns and colors she’s observed within nature and while traveling the world. She expertly blends styles and fuses a room into a cohesive, welcoming space. Mia’s designs elicit visual interest, depth and energy. Her arts-based education enriches her design awareness, affording her the ability to see a space as a blank canvas ripe for artistic and creative expression. We recommended Mia to select furnishings, art and decorative objects for a new single family home in Lincoln Park, for which we were the architect. Mia immediately connected with the Owner and she and her team selected pieces that compliment and bring depth into all the living spaces of the home. She is professional, flexible, and enjoyable to work with. I especially appreciate her ability to understand and respond to the design work of the home, and to engage with and support the personality and interests of the Owner.

I hired Mia and her firm earlier in the year to help with the upgrades and furnishings needed for my condo. She was able to take a fairly characterless condo and turn it into a beautiful space to live in. Some of the attributes that made the experience & outcomes extremely positive were: * Mia takes the time to listen and understand her client's design, color preferences, budget etc. * She is incredibly collaborative, has high energy and easy & fun to work with. * She has a roster of extremely professional contractors (lighting, flooring, painters etc) who are able to deliver top quality outcomes. * She and her assistant designer - Robyn are extremely responsive, organized and keep the project moving. * Mia has a great eye for color and her design recommendations are not boxed into cliche designs - The end product is truly unique and a beauty to look at everyday. I am glad I had the opportunity to work with Mia and recommend her strongly!

My husband and I were overwhelmed when we started an entire house remodel and I relied on Mia Roa Design to create a design plan that gave us an overall direction. We hired Mia to re-purpose three rooms, dining room became a parlor, my office became the dining room and the living room became my new office space. Additionally, we gave our powder room a new look. Working with Mia and her staff was a great experience. She listened to our vision for each room and was very attentive to my goals, both financial and design outcome. The primary reason for the project was to have a larger space for formal dining as we entertain often. We are so pleased with the results and have used that new space often. She was a pleasure to work with and her attention to detail was very appreciated. Each room has a personality of its own yet flows well with the rest of the house. Thanks Mia for the beautiful transformation!

I worked closely with Robyn from Mia Rao Design Inc to design / decorate my condo and I can easily say I couldn't have been more pleased. Not only does she have a great eye and impeccable taste, she is a thorough professional, is always on top of things and has great work ethic. She was somehow magically able to make sense of my vague ideas and design around them to create a truly unique look. Every time I look around, I can't help thinking with a huge grin on my face - "Yes, this is exactly how I wanted this place to look". Of'course, at times, she did have to steer me clear of some terrible ideas I had and boy, am I glad she did. Lol. She is extremely talented and knowledgeable and anything she does not already know (doubt there is much), she is able to quickly research. Simply put, I cannot recommend Robyn and Mia Rao Design enough.
