Paul and team did a full renovation of my 2br condo in Manhattan. Everything was done in the most professional manner, and to schedule. Budgets and billing are transparent. I didn't have to deal with any subcontractors: Paul did it all. They followed building rules, and always kept the hallways clean of dust or debris from the demolition phase. The kitchen is a masterwork. I initially intended to rent out the apartment (having moved during the renovation) but ultimately decided to sell. One of the stagers who looked at it before listing raved about the renovation. The kitchen really sells itself (and is nicer than the kitchen in my new place!). Paul is always available to talk on the phone about any questions and concerns.

We hired Paul to do a gut renovation of our home and couldn’t have made a better choice. From the construction to the design phase, everything ran very smoothly. We did a whole house remodel and Paul and his team did a fantastic job with the huge project they took on. Paul led us through the entire job from beginning to end and was always there for us for any questions or concerns that we had. Sincere , meticulous , intelligent work . As a person he is very personable and he can individualize the plan as per need and ability of the customer. He reviewed the plan over and over again ,made the necessary changes in the plan and construction as per needed. Paul Lopa designs is definitely the way to go if you want someone who is passionate, professional, and honest. I used Paul for a complete reno on my 1st home purchase. It was a complete mess. I had no idea what I got myself into. On the walk through with Paul and Fran the eased my worries with how confident they were that the house would turn out beautiful. Paul didn't seemed phased by the project at hand. And Fran was able to vision the potential of each room. So the design process begins. First I was instructed to install a special app that would organize and keep track of all decisions made by me and a completed list of our entire budget. I was sent choices to choose from for all finishing for my dream home. When I was torn or just too overwhelmed to make a decision Paul and Fran were not afraid to share there artistic view and only had our best interest at heart. They really took the time to get to know what I wanted and did everything to assure that it would get done in a timely manner. Most importantly Paul worked very hard to stay within our budget without compromising the integrity of his work. He was always available to oversee the progress of the project. If he could not be physically at project he was a phone call away and always communicated with me and his employees, who were very hard workers. They were professional and respectful. The house turned out better than I could have imagined and I'm so happy with my decision to hire Paul Lopa designs.

My family and I are so glad we made the choice of hiring Paul Lopa. Our bathroom was about 30 years old and quite outdated. I explained to Paul I wanted a modern look and at the same time I wanted a bathroom that was done right and not need constant repairs. I am so happy to say the man delivered on his promise. My family now has the luxury of having our own spa like bathroom which I have only seen in expensive hotels. I also know from the way he made sure that my floors were water proofed and that all the old pipes and wiring was removed that he did right by me. I can say that it was worth every penny we put into it. Now i have to go and save up some more money so I can have Paul remodel my kitchen.

I started my search for a contractor about a year before I hired Paul to do a kitchen and bathroom renovation. This was my first time at the bat, and I really had no idea what to expect. I had many contractor proposals that swung wildly in price but for some reason I never felt inclined to hire any of the guys I met with. I happened to be looking at Houzz one day and came across Paul’s company and he had very good reviews. I gave him a call and he came to my apartment quickly. I liked him immediately when we met. I thought it was strange that he asked me for my budget and how much I wanted to spend but in hindsight, providing that information allowed Paul to come back to me with a very detailed proposal based on my budget. I soon realized that the lower proposals I had did not include many of the budget items that would be necessary to complete the job. Paul laid out the pricing and provided a very reasonable “allowance” based on your measurements for tile, toilet, sinks, etc. It is up to you to stay within that allowance. Another reason I hired Paul was because of his design skills. Paul met me in the at tile stores several times and helped guide me in choosing tile and a style for the bathroom that really looks beautiful. I fought him a little but in the end, was glad I went with his recommendations. He also uses a kitchen cabinet maker so all the cabinets are custom to what you want. Paul also has a great customer website that allows you to see all the expenses, make choices, and easily communicate with him. If you are planning to do a renovation, I think it helps to plan for the worst and hope for the best. I live in a co-op and we had a couple of little glitches and Paul was always quick to resolve issues as they arose. He was extremely responsive and really cared about the work and doing a good job. I would definitely hire Paul again if I needed a contractor.

Prior to contacting Paul Lopa Designs, we met with other contractors who could not see our vision of what we wanted in a kitchen renovation. Most of them had the same concept, using the same boring floor plan, which was not what we were looking for. Paul took it several steps further and provided us with a beautiful kitchen design. We hired Paul and his team. The original design from the builder in 2001 left us with limited space due to a laundry room that was located behind the kitchen wall. Paul was able to open up the space and relocate the laundry room to the basement, which provided us with ample room in both areas. Paul relocated our door to the garage, which provided an optional entry point as well as a utility closet. As we got the renovation underway, we also decided to expand a powder room on the first floor adding a stand up shower. Paul also suggested we change the flooring on the entire first floor to a hardwood European Oak that turned out exquisitely. Paul also installed all new doors, moldings and refinished the entryway stairway. Our entire first floor was transformed. Our renovation is like no other in our community. We walk in the door and we still cannot believe it is our home. Thank you. Paul and his team were there every step from picking out the selections for the new design plan to the final touches. The Paul Lopa Designs app was very easy to use and kept all of our selections and documents in one place. It was a pleasure working with Paul and his team. Paul has an eye for detail and is easy to work with. He is completely professional in everything he does but, also has a human side that allows him to listen to whatever you have to say concerning the project. He transformed our dining room and breakfast room into something worth walking into in the morning. I would most certainly recommend Paul Lopa !

Paul helped us change our outdated kitchen with breakfast nook into a modern kitchen with 1/2 bath. He guided us in choosing styles, materials, and appliances with a designer's aesthetic. We signed the contract in April and the work began in June. We had a baby due in early August and were racing against that deadline to get the job done. Paul was very invested in accomplishing that goal. We were very relieved when we had a kitchen sink , cabinetry, counter top and running water before the baby came. Paul has a keen eye for design and suggested elements we would not have thought of ourselves that we now really appreciate. He was very responsive to us via text and email. And always available to respond to our concerns and queries in a professional manner. His team was respectful and easy to work with. Through Paul we found appliances at better prices than we could find ourselves. It was a really good experience.

I hired Paul Lopa Designs to renovate two bathrooms in my home. He worked closly with us from start to finish. He gave us a proposal, took us to showrooms and oversaw construction from beginning to end. Both he and his workers were professional. They protected the rest of the house from damaged and left the house spotless at the end of the day. Paul also went over costs constantly so there were no surprises. We hired Paul Lopa to remodel our master bathroom. During the project, we increased the work to include upgrading all mouldings and replaced all interior doors including our front door. We are very pleased with his work. There were no hidden costs, he followed through on every last detail and did so in a timely manner. He guided us toward materials that were of a higher quality to prevent problems down the road. Paul was our contractor for an episode of the NBC show George to the Rescue. He did a fantastic job of turning a home that was stuck in the 70s into a modern beautiful house. His went above and beyond in making sure the job was done at the highest quality. This consisted of removing wallpaper throughout the home that had been glued on since the 70s. The walls now look like they could have been new construction. He did a great job of explaining everything he was doing and why he was doing it, and made helpful suggestions on how to further improve the home. We gave him an extremely tight deadline and he was able to meet it and stay under budget. All of his laborers and subs were top notch and true professionals. I would definitely use Paul again for a future project.

I truly enjoyed working with Paul Lopa. His attention to detail and fast pace are unmatched. I have never had a contractor finish that far ahead of schedule and without one mistake. He was able to take the design plan and improve upon it beyond my expectations. As an interior designer I really appreciated his purposeful ability to maintain the integrity of the original design plan and add elements that I had not thought of myself...elements that made the project more of a showstopper than I had anticipated. The members of his team were all very knowledgeable and extremely courteous not only to me but with each other. That’s important when you have to share a space with others on a project. Paul gives you real bang for your buck because he is a designer AND a general contractor. He really listened to how we intended to use the space, our lifestyle and our needs and worked with us until the design was just right. He had some challenges to face in a house built in 1901 but solved them all. He even figured out to put a hidden storage facility behind a wall in the bathroom - ensuring functionality while not affecting the design of the bathroom. And he constructed a door out of our original beam that everyone asks about when they come visit - such a beautiful conversation starter. We love our space and use it every single day. You can't go wrong with Paul.

Pauls overall knowledge of the entire remodel was more than we could have expected. As a contractor he knows what to do and how to get it done. My wife and I are totally pleased with the outcome of our remodel. From the planning to the carpeting Paul was there every step of theway making sure the job was done right and finished in a timely manner. My wife and I consider Paul Lopa to one of the best designer / contractor on Staten Island. He handled our recent bathroom renovation with the utmost professionalism and competence. His knowledge of home construction is definitely a plus when working a project such as our 50 year old bathroom. Every facet of the plan, from design, demolition and rebuilding, was managed expertly and skillfully. Most importantly Paul’s timeline was accurate and work was performed every day without fail. Preparation, such as dust covers, and clean up were also a big plus. I would recommend Paul and his team to anyone regardless of size or scope of the project. I Signed on to houzz to look for reputable business to renovated a condo I have recently purchased on the upper East side of Manhattan. After contacting a few businesses through this service, I felt an incredible and energetic vibe from Paul Lopa he came person to quote an estimate on design and work on my location. He help guide me through the design process and remodeling which I'm extremely new to an added a flare that I cannot find with any other contractor. It was unique combination of designer and contractor, Paul was very well-educated in all aspects of the products we were choosing. He went above and beyond with renderings and samples of tile and woods. From start to finish I was impressed with his extensive knowledge be it the kitchen or bathroom down to the columns we had put in our great room. My wife and I recently bought a high ranch house in Staten Island which was in pretty decent shape. However, the basement looked like it was straight out of 1972. It was finished, had its own bathroom and kitchen, but it was dark, dank and had poor function. We realized that the entire basement needed to be redone. My wife and I had never owned a home before, and we had limited experience with contractors on our condo. We searched the internet and looked at some suggestions from friends and wound up with four potential Contractors. Paul Lopa Designs was one of them. The first three contractors all had very similar ideas on what to do with the space, pretty much keeping everything the way it was but merely re-dressing what was there. Paul Lopa Designs, on the other hand, suggested a totally new basement. One that we did not think was possible with the space we had. Paul’s design was amazing. He moved the bathroom to the other side of the basement, designed the kitchen of our dreams, and opened up a flow to the downstairs that made it completely incredible. After seeing Paul’s ideas, we knew he was the contractor for us. Paul’s plan was the most expensive. However this was our home, and I strongly believe in the old adage that you get what you pay for, so we decided not to cheap ourselves and picked the real talent. It was about four or five months of work. Pretty much right on schedule (I think they ran 2 weeks or so over, but with the scope of the work, that was a feat in and of itself) Paul’s guys completely gutted the basement, took out the old water heater and furnace. They put in central AC, radiant heating (in both the upstairs and basement) redid all the electric and plumbing. They did a mud job to the floors and laid down all new tiles. They created the type of bathroom that one sees on HGTV and installed the kitchen of our dreams Paul was hands on with the project. If he didn’t do the work himself, he or Brian (his right hand man,) would be there, every day, to supervise the work the subcontractors did. And if it wasn’t up to Paul’s standard (which believe me was higher than mine, he would have them re-do it (more on that later.) Paul returned calls promptly; he is a true professional that knows his trade. He walked us through the entire renovation, phase by phase, explaining what he and his crew were going to do, presented us with different options and let us decide which one we wanted. If I ever had addition work done on the house, I would use Paul Lopa Designs in a heartbeat. Not only that, but I have recommended Paul to many family and friends. You will not be disappointed in the work performed. People come over to our house now and their jaws drop when they see our basement Paul and his workers were professional, always available and held their work to a standard that is unusual these days. About two months after the completion of the job, Paul came back to take photographs of his work for his website. Over that time a small crack in the grout on the floor of the shower appeared. We asked Paul if he could come patch it up, when he came by to take the picture for his site, he said he would. However, when he came to inspect the crack, he looked at the overall floor of the shower and was not happy with the pitch (apparently it needed to be slightly more of a pitch to allow the water to flow into the drain faster.) I would have been happy with the small crack being re-grouted, but not Paul, he pretty much insisted that we allow him to bring in his men, to rip up the shower floor and re-do it from scratch. Three days later the work was done (and believe me, there is a discernible difference in the way that shower drains now. Paul was right yet again) Also, and this is probably the best example of the type of man Paul Lopa is, on Thanksgiving Day me and my wife were hosting the entire family. We had about 20+ people coming over. About an hour before the guest arrived, I heard a loud thud from the utility room. I went in to see the venting pipe of the hot water heater came disconnected and had fallen to the floor. It was merely a PVC pipe that probably didn’t have enough adhesive on it, nothing big. Well, I called Paul and told him about it and asked him if he could come by over the weekend to fix it. He told me he’d call me back in ten minutes after he spoke to his plumber/Heat and AC guy, Antonio. Well a good 90 minutes went by with no return phone call. Then there was a knock at the door, I assumed it was one of our guests, but low and behold, there was Paul, with Antonio, ready to fix the venting pipe. It took them about fifteen minutes to put it back up, seal it properly and it hasn’t been an issue since. What contractor does this? Showing up in the middle of Thanksgiving to make sure his work was done right and his clients happy. And all he took for payment was a few forkfuls of stuffing, (which I felt was the least I could offer in light of him coming over to fix something on a holiday.) This is the type of man Paul Lopa is. If you’re doing work on your house, I strongly recommend Paul Lopa Designs. Not only will you get great service, an amazing, visionary design, quality work….but most of all you’ll be getting peace of mind knowing that the job is done right, and that Mr. Lopa will always stand by his work.

We hired Paul Lopa Designs back in September 2012. We had been looking to renovate our kitchen and bathroom for several years but never truly felt comfortable with a contractor. We also had difficulty with choosing a design. We ultimately hired Paul Lopa due to his design of the kitchen which met all of our needs and exceeded our expectations. A couple of weeks after the construction started on our kitchen, first floor bath and half of our basement, our neighborhood was struck by Hurricane Sandy. We ended up with 12 feet of water in our basement and up to a foot of water on our first floor in some areas. Not only did we have to rip down all the new construction, we had to remove and install new plumbing, heating and electrical. We had to replace the entire wood floor and floor boards on the first floor, remove and repair the damaged walls from the water damage and from the replacement of the electrical throughout the house. And remove and replace all doors and moulding. But before we could do any of that, Paul and Brian assisted with the cleanup which is impossible for me to describe and something I don't even like to think about. Paul and Brian have been helpful and supportive, in so many ways, throughout this entire process. We are now at the home stretch, one year later, but we now have a beautiful "new" home that continues to have the charm and character of the 1940's home that we fell in love with 14 years ago. We now have custom radiator covers on the first floor and custom shelving in the basement that we could never have envisioned. Our kitchen and bath are both beautifully designed and updated and the detail and high level of workmanship is consistent throughout the house. Paul continues to be hands on and is always just a phone call away. Customer satisfaction is truly his highest priority. It is comforting to know that I can call him with any problem, large or small, and he will do whatever he has to, to make us happy with the end result. It has been a difficult year, regardless of the renovation, but Paul continues to be motivated and engaged with this project throughout this long haul. We will be forever grateful.

We recently remodeled a studio we purchased for guests who visit us. The project included the demolition of a kitchenettem and a bathroom, and the installation of new cabinets, wood flooring, granite countertops, appliances, wood molding and a custom Murphy bed in the sleeping area. My husband and I wanted a contractor who specializes in high end kitchens. We hired Paul Lopa (who had previously done two projects for us---a kitchen remodel and a bathroom remodel) as we were extremely impressed with his work, from beginning to end. For the studio project, Paul brought many samples to our home before the project commenced. It was very easy for us to select the materials, from the wood used for the cabinets and Murphy bed to the granite countertop and wood floor. We were also very pleased with the appliances he helped us select as well, as the kitchen was transformed into a full-fledged kitchen with an eat-at counter. Paul helped us select custom marble for the bathroom which is gorgeous! Every suggestion he made was great. The studio is now worthy of being photographed by Architectural Digest! Paul and his crew are very professional. His staff is friendly and were always on time. Upon completion of the job, the whole area was clean and ready to use. Paul was always accessible and available to answer questions whenever we had one. We were impressed that the project finished on time and on budget! We will definitely use Paul for all future work.
