Queen Street Carpentry and Contracting

Queen Street C &C has done several jobs for us over the years: fence building, bathroom renovation and kitchen renovation and we would hire them again. There were no surprises and all jobs were completed on-time. The quality of work is excellent. Jake responds to any and every concern promptly and with good ideas. All members of the Queen Street team are pleasant and capable and gave us confidence in their work.

I am an Architect and designed a rear addition for my home and QSC executed the design with skill and confidence - that was 6-years ago. Phase two, completed last year, was to finish my interior design and there was no question that QSC was going to be invited back to apply their craft. My project was very unique and challenging, QSC rose to the challenge and the results matched my expectations.

We hired Queen Street Contracting to do our early 70’s built bungalow renovation… full gut and remake of basement and main floor. This involved moving walls, putting in new bathrooms, kitchen, electrical, plumbing and deck. Jake guided us to excellent plumbing and kitchen suppliers and things got underway in January of 2021. Covid restrictions and supply chain issues slowed things down a bit, but all was completed by end of August. We are very happy with the end results, and with our experience working with the QSC team and trades. All was on budget.

Jake and his team were dedicated and hardworking on our whole home renovation. At the time this project was one of their biggest, but they rose to the challenge. Construction is always fraught with unknowns, and renovating a century old farmhouse was a huge challenge for everyone involved. There were some issues with scheduling and sub-contractor work quality, but the team always worked hard to make it right. Considering the difficulty of the project and the tight budget I believe that they provided outstanding value. They implemented the design with care and professionalism. QSC took the time to get things right, promptly correcting any mistakes and communicating very well what was happening throughout the project. Jake is also very flexible, which was also much appreciated. This trait should not be underestimated.

Unbelievable construction and design on a custom light fixture and sliding door. Will last longer than me, and is timeless in construction. Will be forwarding plans to them for a walk custom book shelf shortly, and can’t wait to see what they come up with.

I've had friends tell me that renovating their home ranged dramatically from a slightly annoying experience to a down-right nightmare so I was not looking forward to fixing up our new house. We couldn't do the work ourselves, so I did some research and picked Queen Street Carpentry for the task at hand. Thank goodness I did because Jake Elstone (and crew) at Queen Street Carpentry were amazing. We are extremely pleased with the services we received. We had the interior of our new home freshly painted, a new bathroom put in, carpets removed, new floors installed and old wood floors refinished. I'd never worked with a contractor before and I was a little worried that our renovations wouldn't be considered "big enough," but Jake made me feel as if our home was worth a million bucks. We are very happy with the quality of the work that was done and grateful that Queen Street Carpentry was able to finish everything on time, even though I made lots of extra requests along the way. Thanks to Jake and everyone who worked with him, we were able to turn this cute little house into our cute little home.

This company bailed me out when I lost my contractor. They came right away to help me finish my upstairs reno. They have several contractors who are friendly and do good work. Jake, the head contractor is very knowledgeable and can help solve difficult issues. I would not hesitate to recommend them.

This firm was referred to us by a friend and we were not to be disappointed. From the outset all the work was carried out in a very professional way. The cost estimates amazingly fitted the final figures: there were no hidden extras. There were some additions and deletions as the work progressed, but all were reasonable and agreed to. The work related to a basement renovation, or more accurately, making an old 1920s basement livable, and this was achieved. A note of caution : be flexible with the time period for the work. With the best will in the world, it was difficult for the contractor to schedule one subcontractor to follow another because they were always so busy finishing another job. It's better to wait on a good worker than to employ someone not so good to get the job done more quickly. The contractor is to be commended in employing firms that maintained an excellence of service in their field; and individual workers were always pleasant to have around (even when the air conditioning failed in the hottest week of the summer!!). The contractor was also very accommodating of our personal needs, such as a three-week freeze while we were on vacation in Italy. Every time we go barefooted to our basement we think of a job well done by Queen Street Carpentry.

Jake and his employees were great to work with. He completed the vision that we had with our home and look forward to working with him and his pros again.

I love Jake and his crew: Friendly, courteous, respectful, highly professional and creative with an attention to detail. Queen Street Carpentry was recommended to me by a friend, and Jake transformed my second floor guest and study rooms into one spectacular master bedroom with custom-made built-in cupboards with an island dresser. I called him in a second time to make improvements to my kitchen, living room, guest room, upstairs hallway and stairway. Very pleased!

Jake and his crew just recently complete our basement renovation and we couldn't be happier. Courteous and friendly, I knew he was the perfect person for our project. Basement was approximately 1200sq ft, but we were only finishing roughly 800. Two storage rooms, powder room and theatre room, Jake took what I had designed and ran with it. Cost of the project came in right about where it was budgeted. Changes were effortlessly handled and any issues that did arise were handled in a professional manner. Kim, Rob, Cody and Gary treated our house and property with respect and made sure everything was clean at days end. The workmanship speaks for itself. My wife and I could not be any happier with the final product. I highly recommend Jake and Queenstreet Carpentry for any house projects you might have. I know it won't be the last time we work together.
