DC Metro's Well-Designed Spaces and Custom Crafted Cabinetry

Law school or lumber? Thirty five years ago Eric Smith was at a crossroads. He decided to pursue his passion for woodworking that began as a child in his father's workshop. Turning his back on a full ride to law school, with a fair measure of trepidation he set out to use his hands to improve the quality of home life for others. Building upon the foundation of a healthy work ethic, coupled with his God given design talent, he found plenty of opportunity to support his growing family of 10. Along the way, Eric met Dan Swain, who had devoted his life since college to the cabinetry business. The two combined their talents and experience to form Potomac Shores Custom Cabinetry. Initially, building cabinets from a modest barn facility, Potomac Shores has grown to support many individuals yet remains the same family run company that takes pride in their workmanship and cares for their customer. Dan and Eric find joy in providing well designed spaces filled with well crafted cabinetry. Their desire is to improve home life everywhere.

The Potomac Shores team provided EXACTLY what I was hoping for! (See before & after photos). The beautiful built-in bookcases and window seat were crafted in their shop over the past number of weeks and then installed in 1 day at my home last week (still haven't had time to fill them yet). The team matched my cabinetry in my kitchen and produced high quality cabinets, cases, and drawers -- better than my kitchen (see and smell the real wood!). The team was professional, worked efficiently, and left everything in good order when they departed. Thanks, Potomac Shores! P.S. The sconces are installed more as decoration without being hooked up to electricity. They have puck lights in them for ambiance, but they really don't provide reading light, unfortunately. This was our second project with Eric and Dan and was a basement renovation following water damage earlier in the year. The project went smoothly and the finished product looks great. We added a full bathroom to replace the old powder room and also put in custom cabinets, replaced the dated popcorn ceiling and installed LVP flooring and understair storage. Eric and his team started on time and worked consistently to ensure the project was completed as quickly as possible without taking short cuts. The consistent and clear communication made them easy to work with. We were provided valuable input for key decisions based upon experience with similar projects. They were also mindful that we were still living in the house and kept the work area as tidy as possible.

Did a whole house remodel with Potomac Shores cabinets in the kitchen, baths and basement bar. Couldn't be happier. We started our process at a big box home improvement store and then we moved to a national flooring/kitchen store. They could only offer standard cabinet sizes, but we wanted cabinets to fit our spaces, versus having to adjust our spaces to fit standard cabinets. We are so glad we got the custom cabinets from PS. They worked with us personally, and took all of our specifications and desires to put together a custom design package. For a tiny bit more $$ we got precise fits, great finishes, and a custom look. All of the appliances fit in like a glove, with no need for extra spacers, etc. All I can say is Wow. It was totally worth it, and I would use them again without question.

My new Potomac Shores dining room built-in is beautiful and functional. Eric was amazingly patient in the early design phase (Potomac Shores created a custom concealed office workstation in the base cabinet). Installation was like watching “a well-oiled machine meets Chick-fil-A” ... smooth & efficient yet polite & personable :-) Over 15 years ago, Potomac Shores made and installed my kitchen (which I still love). If possible, this project went even better!

Eric and Dan are awesome! Just meet them and you will hire them...our easiest decision in the process. Honest professionals, highest quality cabinets, outstanding workmanship, and by far the most fair and reasonable pricing. Remodeled entire kitchen; new cabinets/countertops, moved appliances/gas lines, bigger windows, all new lighting, & installed new wet bar. First had to install support beams in basement to level floor. Also remodeled downstairs bath, laundry, and entire master bath. Half way through we even added a brand new walk-in master closet as a bonus. Completely satisfied with every aspect of the project.

Their professional skills were applied to removing a load bearing wall for an open floor plan, and we worked very collaboratively on several ideas, and meeting cost objectives. Potomac Shores Cabinetry was great to work with. We discussed the features we desired and they provided options and recommendations while honoring our budget at the same time. During the installation, which was completed according to the original projected date, they were flexible to honor my schedule of working from home. They kept any disruptions and mess to a minimum. The soft close drawers and doors are silent and I love my new spice cabinet. We would absolutely use Potomac Shores Cabinetry again and have already recommended them to friends and neighbors.
