Steve Shuert Residential Design

Steve Shuert designed a dream home for our family of 12. He is an brilliant architect that captured the design of our home to make it functional and aesthetically pleasing for our family. From the first interaction it was clear that Steve took time to listen carefully about the unique things we needed for our home - specifically an open design that would give us a single open space for living room, dining room and kitchen, lots of bedrooms to accommodate our 10 kids, lots of storage and several spaces to allow us to let the kids play inside and have a space to home school them. He met us at the lot for our new house and tried to incorporate the strengths of the lot and highlight them with the design of the house (lots of windows in the common areas to give us an unobstructed view of the forest surrounding us). We filled out a list of specifications for the house and an idea of how we wanted the house laid out and within a few weeks he had the first draft with a room layout of the house. Even by the first draft it was clear he had taken time to listen to our needs and already it was 90% how we wanted it. We made some minor suggestions and by the second draft the layout was perfect. We had created several picture collections on Houzz and Pinterest of design elements or house styles we liked for Steve to get ideas from and when he came up with the first elevation drawings of the house it was perfect. It captured our love for Craftsman homes and the unique details of that style. Our initial design included a basement and nanny quarters but after considering the added costs we decided to forgo those elements and again Steve had revisions to the architectural plans back to us in a few days with the changes we needed made. We would highly recommend Steve Shuert for any type of architectural project you might need designed. He is highly competent, works efficiently, listens to his clients while providing architectural suggestions to enhance the home and we could not have been happier with the final design we got from Steve. Architects like Steve are hard to find and we are so glad our builder, Mike Cusack, recommended him to work on the design of our home. We could not have been more pleased with the end result.

I first met Steve Shuert in 2004. Steve is the owner of Steve Shuert Residential Designs. I used Steve to design a house I was building for a client. I was drawn to Steve from the moment I first met him. Steve has a very calm demeanor but at the same time he has a fire for Architecture. The skill set Steve has to offer is perfect for a custom builder. He is very warm and open, patient, knowledgeable, very artistic and by the way he has a degree in Architecture.
