Tana is wonderful. We hired her to do a review of a kitchen remodel: to figure out what was possible and how much it would cost/how long it would take, etc. She went above and beyond the brief, bringing so much knowledge and creativity to the project. She showed us solutions that never would have occurred to us and even researched our ROI based on real estate data in our area. She was also a great communicator and transparent about what we could expect in terms of process, challenges and pricing. In the end, we decided it wasn’t a good time right now to jump into the remodel (what with a toddler and running 2 businesses) but I would 1000% recommend and trust Tana for any project, for anyone. She’s reliable, super stylish, incredibly smart, fun to work with and has so much integrity.

We hired PowerSmith Design (Tana and Adam) to help us update our kitchen, family room, and living room. They really helped us to develop our vision and bring it to life. They challenged us to move a bit out of our "comfort zone" on a few decisions and we could not be happier with the results. We really enjoyed their collaborative approach and open communication style. Last but not least, they are fun and we had a great time working with them. The results are amazing and we could not be happier with their service and the final results.

The House Whisperers! Adam and Tana are terrific as a duo and as individuals. Our project went through many permutations before we were able to nail down a gameplan. They adjusted their designs through all changes necessitated by budget constraints, contractor availability, city permit considerations, architect schedules, just plain strange cabinet ordering issues, and our dogs jumping on their legs. Their design touch can suit many tastes and client peculiarities. They had our best interests at heart and were able to elevate our eclectic and messy style. They were patient and supportive. We had never done a major reno project and they talked us through every step of the process. There is no way we could have done the gut rehab of our first floor without them. Our project ended up taking over a year (through no fault of theirs) and they maintained their high level of professionalism and enthusiasm throughout. It was hard and fun and we will call them again when we’re ready for the next project because they are worth every penny.

We found PowerSmith Design to be the ideal interior design company for our needs. They were responsive, creative and innovative in their recommendations of materials, colors and space considerations. They really helped us arrive at a design solution for a small bathroom that was beautiful and functional. We will recommend them to our friends and family.

We moved into our 100 year-old vintage condo 15 years ago, it included a galley kitchen that had never functioned well for us. When it came time to remodel we received a recommendation from a neighbor to contact Tana Powers and Adam Smith from PowerSmith Design. We knew immediately from our initial interview that we wanted to hire them. Tana and Adam were always attentive and respectful of our needs and budget. We felt that they really care about us as their client and our vision for our dream kitchen. They worked very hard pulling everything together to make that dream come to life. They maintained our budget, recommended the architect, general contractor and vendors which in total completed an awesome crew. PowerSmith Design put together a well functioning layout which was a major feat. We removed two load bearing walls that would expand our galley to a very spacious kitchen. They worked closely with the cabinet vendor to get all the measurements and layout just right. Once that was done, they continued to suggest materials and design elements that would complete the look to our taste. I know many people complain about their remodels but we felt that we had a very good experience. We enjoyed working with Tana, Adam and the whole crew. It could have easily been a nightmare but we felt that because of them, our remodel went smoothly and was really very exciting!

Tana and Adam are pretty much the best design team out there. They figure out your style very quickly, are extremely responsive, pick amazing pieces, and are very affordable. Their cost is MORE than offset by what they save you. I would highly recommend them for any design job!

We built several pieces of custom lighting for a project that PowerSmith Design was working on. With consistent clear and concise communication from Tana Powers we were able to quickly complete the 3 modern sconces to help transform the once traditional Chicago home with new bold pops of modern. We would love the opportunity to work with PowerSmith Design in the future.

We are so lucky to have found PowerSmith Design. After 10 years of living in a very basic kitchen, we decided to it was high time to renovate. Tana and Adam were patient, thoughtful and curious to know what our expectations were in what could be best described as a small, plain, builders special that worked perfectly well if you lived alone and didn't have people over, like, ever. We needed a change and they were there to offer inspiration, guidance and brilliant ideas for storage without having to take down walls or rip up floors. The footprint didn't change but it looks and feels like we have a space that's twice the size that it actually is. The old oak cabinetry came down and now we have open shelving; white subway tiles with dark, contrasting grout and gorgeous stormy gray cabinetry surrounding the new fridge. We decided on a matte black granite (which I'm not a fan of, generally) but it was a dead ringer for soapstone, so that was a no brainer. Our microwave, toaster and dishwasher are all tucked neatly away in cabinets so there's lots of space to move and work in. The faucet is wall mounted which means that the sink area is very, very easy to clean. Everything is so well thought out that not only is cooking an enjoyable experience, but cleaning up is too! Working with PowerSmith was calm, cool and so satisfying. We absolutely love, LOVE our kitchen. If you want to see pictures, ours is the one called "Vintage Galley".

PowerSmith Design provided services for a gut rehab of my condo. They designed the entire space, managed the budget, selected materials, managed the build-out process, managed the vendors, accepted deliveries, and then provided interior design services once the build-out process was complete. They did everything!! All I had to do was give my opinion on the direction of the design process. Adam and Tana were amazing! They were professional, made some amazing selections, came in under the revised budget, and always gave me their honest opinions. I could not have asked for a better team. They had a vision that they executed with perfection. The end product was breathtaking! We had a housewarming and everyone was in awe!!! They all wanted to hire PowerSmith Design!! One person said, I do not know anyone else who lives in a home this amazing. I highly recommend PowerSmith design to anyone looking for a designer to assist with rehabs or interior design services. Ten stars!!

PowerSmith Design is fantastic. We originally hired the designers to do paint selection for our living room, but ended up expanding the scope and remodeling the kitchen instead. We were so impressed after the first meeting. Tana and Adam are extremely pleasant to work with and handled all of our requests and last minute changes in stride. Their insight into design is second to none. Not to mention the two are creative, energetic, and pay close attention to detail. They take your vision and make it beyond expectations.

Quick background - I am in Sales and travel quite a bit, and would say I live a pretty busy life. While remodeling my kitchen was something very important to me, I had no idea what I wanted, and no time to figure it out. Tana and Adam from PowerSmith Design completely took this project on, and made it easy, effortless, and most important to me, fun. None of that was predictable given the amount of angst and concern I had going into this whole project. Their eye for design, detail, and their ability to recreate my vision was impeccable not to mention impressive. The kitchen reno was done in less than 4 weeks and was SO smooth. I'm madly in love with my new kitchen and can't wait to figure out what reno / design project is next that I can ask them to sink their teeth into!
