Gresford Architects designed and managed a complete refurbishment of a Georgian terraced home in Angel N1, London a few years ago, including a new basement. Absolute pleasure to work with, total expertise and experience in all aspects of the project were invaluable. The few unforeseen issues that arose during the course of the works were handled with ease and solved to our satisfaction. Still to this day, Tom himself is advising us on issues and questions that pop up. A++++

Tom was amazing. He heard our brief and really listened to what we were saying. Some of it we hadn't even known ourselves until Tom suggested it because he had listened to us. His initial designs concepts were so imaginative we had trouble deciding on one. In the end we chose one, with some additional touches from the other two. The final design was everything we wanted and way more. Tom was patient and guided us through the whole process from initial chat to planning. I cannot recommend Tom and his team highly enough.

I have lived in this house for nearly 5 years now, and every day it has provided all the right conditions for a beautiful home. Tom and his team's attention to detail and care to create wonderful living spaces was really outstanding. As inexperienced developers, Tom and his team helped make our project, a new build, an enjoyable and stress free experience. They engaged in the design process and helped us exceed our expectations for the site and finished build. They were able to suggest reliable suppliers and introduce us to professional builders. They helped us choose appropriate finishes, providing samples when necessary. We were very pleased with the service and with our lovely new home.

We used Gresford Architects for a recent extension to our terraced house. We instantly struck up a rapport with Tom and his team and felt confident they were the right choice to work with. Tom came up with a bold and innovative proposal that exceeded our expectations of what we could achieve. The house has been nominated for numerous awards. It also recently featured in Dezeen, THE global online magazine for designers and architects - a huge honour.

Tom Gresford and his team designed and then project managed a total renovation of our 1960s house, almost doubling the square footage and completely remodelling the interior layout. It was a 9 month build from start to finish, I had my third child along the way, and I can actually say that I enjoyed the process! At every stage, we felt involved, listened to and clear about where we were headed. Gresford Architects were the third set of architects we approached for our project and what made Tom stand out was his enthusiasm, the depth of his knowledge and his exacting eye for detail. He is a rare combination of professional and personable; and the good news is, that he hires in his own image. Every other member of his team were very good at what they did and were lovely people, too. When any issue arose - as they do on any project - the matter was dealt with swiftly and professionally. I have no hesitation in recommending Tom Gresford and his practice; in my personal experience, it was money well spent and the family home they designed for us works just as we hoped it would.

Gresford Architects delivered an extremely high quality six-storey mixed use development for us in Hackney which comprised stylish office space over three floors to meet the affordable workspace needs of the local economy along with four high-end residential units marketed at City workers. The scheme was challenging as it was essentially an infill where our previous aged building had become redundant, whilst tall new developments abutted it on three sides. What really worked for us was how Gresford were able to bring together our organisation’s social and economic drivers and create a building that effectively met both, as well as an aesthetic enhancement at street level which was both stylish and sensitive to the conservation area’s heritage of warehouses, with striking use of simple concrete, brick and aluminium materials. Whilst we were a corporate client with several key stakeholder groups to satisfy, Gresford Architects ensured that the collaborative experience was personal, with my tastes, preferences and ambitions for the site remaining clearly evident throughout. In my new role I have a potential opportunity to develop a community building in a wetlands conservation site in the South West and know that there is only one architect I would choose to work with in this.

Tom and his team have been outstanding and so professional from day one. They take the time and care to explain all processes step by step including fee proposals and looking at time lines. They have listened to us patiently and respectfully even when I’ve come put with some crazy ideas but found a solution that was not only pleasing but better than I could have imagined. Will has been brilliant at responding efficiently and immediately no matter how silly the questions they may be, making the team very approachable. He has worked and listened to us and asked all the right questions to find a design that suits our needs but is practical. Both Tom and Will at each point have also kept us advised regarding budget at each step and clear about how the changes we want to make may impact that but more importantly rather than dismissing these ideas, looked for solutions and compromises where necessary which we would be happy with while trying to stay on target budget. We can not recommend them highly enough and have also used the team on much larger projects.
