    You can get the cable at almost any hardware store.

      Hi! I would like to install a s/s/ cable rail wall like this to separate a bedroom loft from the living area below but not sure how to get the project started. I see that the materials can be bought in a hardware store, what about the installation? Do I need a general contractor for this?

      You most likely do not need a general contractor. A carpenter should be able to handle the installation. If you have demolition you may need some other trades.
