Not really a "design dilemma" but I'm wondering if any one has a home like this?
This picture is a Eatons catalogue house which our home was probably based on. Although ours isn't exactly the same plan, and not a kit house, the general look is the same. It is a very modest "craftsman" and I'm wondering if there is a style that describes it better. It has no fireplace or stained glass. Oak floors and 12 inch baseboards on the main, fir floors upstairs. The mouldings are simple. Three rooms on the main floor, plus kitchen addition and 4 and a bath upstairs.
We have a lot of inspiration, and would love to restore the exterior. Someone "ruined" the front in the 70s with aluminum windows, shutters and soffits, and wide vinyl siding over the cedar shakes and original plank siding. All the houses here have had their porches covered, that might be original.
Does anyone own a house similar? Or what style is this? It was built around 1910.

vor 7 JahrenOne main difference from my house and the Eatons house is the window jutting out and our house used to have more corbels. There are two other houses like ours in our neighbourhood and they have the corbels.

Kommentare (38)Also bei den Tiny Homes findet man immer wieder schöne Lösungen, die auch für kleine Wohnungen nachvollziehbar sind. Wohnmobile haben auch optimale Platzausnutzung. Kommentare (21)Hallo Barbara, ich würde es wieder so machen. fugenlos ist super ! Der Eicheboden is a Traum, in der Übergangszeit (wenn die Fußbodenheizung aus ist) trotzdem warm u. angenehm barfuß drauf zu stehen. Mit eitwas handwerklichem Geschick kann man das sicherlich selbst hinkriegen. Es gibt ja auch mittlerweile so Wandgroße Fliesen, damit man keine Fuge mehr hat, für die Dusche. Ich kann es nur positiv sehen und weiterempfehlen. Die Handwerker sollten evtl. mal den Putzlappen in die Hand nehmen um die Vorteile zu erkennen, FUGEN sauber machen ist sch..... Kommentare (5)I´ve read that article as well and think your statement is absolutely right: the meaning - or maybe better - the worth of correct lighting seems to be underestimatet. Clients often rather invest in design of a certain lamp than in quality of light. Another interesting fact you mentioned is the choice of surface in accordance to LED-lighting to minimize reflections. - Easy to understand but seemingly often forgotten. When we built our new home, my wish was a complete, in parts dimmable LED lighting system, that we realized in collaboration with a lighting designer. - So some of your aspects were already base of our working together. And although it looks rather technically (what I love indeed) it´s able to create both: warm light in the evening whilst sittig together with friends and family and a clear bright light for (e.g.) working or cooking. But apart of my own "homemade" experiences, I think it is a stunning service you offer clients by visiting all these projects at the fair and assess them under the specific criteria of correct lighting. Kommentare (5)Hallo Sabine, das klingt super spannend, ich habe in Köln ein ähnliches, nicht ganz so elaboriertes Konzept, wie das New Yorker Appartment aber doch multifunktional zu nutzen auf nur 53 qm geplant und realisiert. Mich faszinieren intelligente Planungen für Mehrfachnutzungen und als Interior- und Möbeldesigner habe ich bereits einige Projekte mit diesen Kriterien umgesetzt.
