Matthew Cunningham Landscape Design LLCA turn-of-the-century brick mansion stands prominently upon a 2-acre parcel of land in a magnificent woodland setting. Sculptural outcrops of native puddingstone project from the surrounding woodland, where mature oaks, maples, and hemlocks create a shady buffer between a bustling urban area abutting one edge. Water cascades from a custom lead fountain; the sounds of trickling water soften the noises of traffic on the busy nearby streetscape. A tightly clipped boxwood hedge borders perennial beds, and vibrant, shade-loving plants add texture and multi-seasonal interest to the garden. An exquisitely crafted teak panel trellis embellishes a stark brick wall; the elegant garden feels functional and balanced.

The arbor extends over the patio to continue the green-black trim to better frame the white house. The HVAC units have been fenced in with a visual screen that lets airflow through - and the panels are removable for maintenance access. We also replaced the old planter boxes on the front windows.
