Joni Spear Interior DesignAs a practical trend, formal dining spaces have largely become obsolete in favor of great, dynamic kitchens; however, bucking the movement, my young, but highly traditional client wanted to enjoy evening meals as a routine close to the family’s scattered and hectic days.
Ceilings are christened a whisper of a blush to inspire relaxed conversation under the halo of a warm glow.
The traditional table and chairs are the yield of a highly juried online treasure hunt. Each piece is meticulously refinished in an updated stain more reflective of the young homeowners. Performance fabric is used on the chairs to ensure ease of cleanability to combat daily use by children and young adults.
Walls are clad in a cut velvet and metallic animal print wallpaper to add subtle nostalgia from eras gone by.
Millwork is freshly painted in a semi-gloss alabaster to offer relief from the wallpaper and ceiling.
The opulent, antique-inspired chandelier is the dazzling focal point with draped crystal beading.
Linen drapery panels seamlessly silhouette the cozy window seat.
Cleanable yet regal velvet fabric upholstered cushions, ornamented with a braided trim add a final pop of elegance.

UserThis dining room combines modern, rustic and classic styles. The colors are inspired by the original art work placed on the accent wall. Dining room accessories are understated to compliment the dining room painting. Custom made draperies complete the look. Natural fabric for the upholstery chairs is selected to work with the modern dining room rug. A rustic chandelier is high above the dining room table to showcase the painting. We maximized the ample storage from the original use of the room and also added a ladie's writing desk, tea area, coffee bar, wrapping station and a sewing machine. Today's busy Mom could now easily relax as well as take care of various household chores all in one, elegant room.

The DesignoryThe owners of this Randwick semi-detached home came to The Designory looking to improve the overall flow and use of the home, update the joinery throughout and redesign their open plan kitchen. The brief for the kitchen design was to create an improved flow from the entrance to the house through to the open plan Kitchen, Dining and Living areas as well as improve the storage and layout for a more functional cooking and entertaining space.
The client a creative herself, also loved a palette of timber, natural stones, greys with small hints of interests. The Designory team worked closely with the owners to bring the project to life by opening the spaces further to create a true indoor/outdoor connection and selecting special personal elements to create a bespoke finished project that the client loved.
