With a clean and light feel, this kitchen renovation from Worthing, West Sussex boasts a timeless dynamic, perfectly tailored to fit the space with both traditional and contemporary kitchen features.
Housed in a traditional Worthing home a stone’s throw from our Worthing showroom is this elegant British kitchen that is packed with kitchen features and accessories. Managing director Phil has designed this almost entirely using our virtual appointment service, this project is a fantastic example of the results that can be achieved using our online services.
The brief for this project was a contemporary upgrade on the existing kitchen, which can be viewed below. Much of the kitchen layout has stayed the same as the original, with an island replacing the original octagonal peninsula island. Upgrades have been made throughout the space to suit the lifestyle of this client, with enhanced in-cupboard storage solutions used so there is no need for clutter in the kitchen.
The Previous Kitchen
Many features of the previous kitchen have been adapted into the new kitchen space. The original octagonal island has been replaced with a stand-alone island and Corian work surfaces have again been used at the client’s request to give a neat flowing appearance to the worktops. The layout of the kitchen is much the same with a wall-to-wall run replacing the previous L shaped layout opposite the island. Curved units replace the previous chamfered exposed shelving with a plenty of wine storage featuring on the opposite side of the new island.
Kitchen Furniture
To create this clean and quintessential kitchen space, British supplier Mereway have been selected. Mereway have one of the vastest collections of shaker style furniture, with the client opting to use the contemporary Charnwood range for their renovation. The Cashmere colour option has been used for the kitchen with the client choosing a lighter kitchen tone to keep the space feeling light and airy.
The Charnwood range also gives this project flexibility with the option of curved units and heaps of neat storage and design features. To complement furniture, chrome doorknobs and shell handles have been used for simple and stylish access.
Kitchen Appliances
To bring functionality to this kitchen space, Neff appliances have been used throughout with a double oven, gas hob, undermounted fridge and built-in extractor all included as part of the renovation. The Neff N70 gas hob has been integrated into the island space with the built-in extractor directly above. This hob boasts five burning areas, with a dual ring wok burner included for fast cooking. Neff FlameSelect technology features on this appliance with the precise option of nine cleverly controlled gas flows.
The extraction system above this hob is another similar inclusion to the original kitchen but has been scaled back in size to ensure that there is a clean sight across the kitchen space. A remote control built into this appliance operates this hob with a stainless-steel panel descending to channel cooking odours and scents into the extraction system. A Wifi enabled Neff double oven and integrated Neff fridge have been integrated behind furniture for extra cold storage and extra cooking capabilities.
Kitchen Accessories
One of the most alluring inclusions in this kitchen is the beautiful Corian work surfaces. Selected in the Limestone Prima finish, these worktops create a beautiful flowing aesthetic through their acrylic composition and alluring options. The Limestone Prima choice for this project uses a light grey base with flecks and earthy veining to create a fantastic appearance. The Corian surface expands out to the main window in this kitchen, with a seamless join between the crisp white kitchen sink and worksurface with integrated drainer grooves into the sink and heat mat aside the hob.
Above the Corian worktop upstands, trendy white metro tiling has been fitted up to wall units where undercabinet LED lighting beams down, illuminating the food preparation areas.
Kitchen Features
A vast selection of kitchen features has enabled the client to put their own unique twist on their kitchen space. Inventive storage solutions in both corners of the u-shape kitchen area help maximise storage with pull out drawers integrated into a tall unit opposite the oven. As mentioned, an integrated wine store has been included in the rear of the island with storage for twenty-four bottles.
Alongside the run of units on the right-hand side of this kitchen a decorative area has been created by combining exposed shelving and glass fronted units. This has been used by the client to store glassware and books in a nicely finished fashion. Curved units have been used to soften any harsh edges in this kitchen, with the Corian carefully fabricated around the curves to create a nice soft feel about the space.

Alexander KitchensClassic British Kitchen in Haywards Heath, West Sussex
This recent Haywards Heath kitchen project spans three rooms, making the most of classic British-made furnishings for local clients who sought an ‘all under one roof’ renovation solution.
This project is located within Haywards Heath although the property is closer to the picturesque village of Lindfield. The overall brief for this project involved transforming three rooms into a sequence of functional spaces, with a main kitchen area, separate dining and living space as well as a spacious utility area.
To bring the client’s vision to life, a doorway from the kitchen into the dining area has been created to make a flowing passage through the rooms. In addition, our fitting team have undertaken a full flooring improvement, using British Karndean flooring with underfloor heating installed as part of this comprehensive project. Lighting, electrics, and plastering have also taken place where necessary to enhance the final finish of the space.
Kitchen Furniture
The furniture used for this renovation is British made, using traditional carpentry and cabinetry methods. From the Mereway Signature collection, this furniture is most luxurious shaker kitchen option offered by the British kitchen maker, using dovetail joinery and robust craftsmanship for a traditional and long-lasting furniture option. The detail of the Signature collection is best showcased in the detailed shaker frame and elegant cornices that decorate full-height units and wall units. The popular Cashmere colourway has been used throughout furnishings across rooms.
The layout is comprised of two parallel runs with an end run used to house sink and dishwashing facilities. The layout ensures there is plenty of floorspace in the kitchen whilst nicely leading into the next-door dining and living room.
Kitchen Appliances
Across the kitchen Neff appliances feature prominently for a premium specification of appliances. A sizeable Neff flexInduction hob is included with a feature glass extractor for seamless cooking, and notably, dual Neff single ovens. These possess a useful Pyrolytic cleaning ability, turning cooking residue in to ash for simple non-hazardous cleaning.
Another popular inclusion in this kitchen is a built-in Neff microwave. This has been neatly integrated into wall unit furniture, removing the need for small appliances on the worktop. On a similar note, a Quooker boiling tap features above the main sink again removing the need for a traditional kettle. A Neff dishwasher and full-height refrigerator have been integrated into furniture to maintain the kitchen aesthetic.
Kitchen Accessories
A selection of durable and desirable features are showcased throughout this project. Organic White Quartz work surfaces feature throughout the kitchen and utility space, nicely complementing Cashmere furnishings. The end-run area utilises a undermounted stainless steel sink with drainer grooves integrated into the work surface. An integrated bin system is included here for extra convenience.
Another popular feature in this kitchen is the built-in CDA wine cabinet. This model has capacity for twenty wine bottles that are precisely cooled through a regulated temperature control system. To heat the rooms, in keeping full-height radiators have been fitted throughout. In a perfect warming combination, our fitting team have expertly installed underfloor heating and Misty Grey Oak Karndean Flooring throughout the three rooms.
Kitchen Features
Throughout the kitchen area feature and decorative units have been included to create a unique design. Glass fronted wall units have been nicely used to showcase pertinent items and maintain the kitchen theme. Above the wine cabinet a full height exposed unit has been used as a neat and tidy decorative space. Feature storage makes the most of the space available with a full height pull-out storage and plentiful storage throughout. Dovetail joinery and oak finished drawer internals keep stored items neat and tidy whilst providing timeless handcrafted detail.
Kitchen Utility & Dining Room
To create a continuous theme across the three rooms, matching flooring, work surfaces and furnishings have been used. Generous storage in the utility ensures that there is a place for all cleaning items and more, with laundry facilities neatly fitted within furniture. Flooring, plumbing, electrics, and lighting have also been adjusted to reflect the new layout, with a step into the dining room from the kitchen also created.

Create PerfectThe new open-plan kitchen and living room have a sloped roof extension with skylights and large bi-folding doors. We designed the kitchen bespoke to our client's individual requirements with 6 seats at a large double sides island, a large corner pantry unit and a hot water tap. Off this space, there is also a utility room.
The seating area has a three-seater and a two-seater sofa which both recline. There is also still space to add a dining table if the client wishes in the future.
Ellen Farber Strategic DesignThe kitchen was originally planned to mimic the location of appliances in her current kitchen to minimize re-learning of appliance locations. The only change was adding a trash cabinet between the fridge and the sink. A french door fridge allows someone in a wheelchair to easily access frozen and cold foods, while the water and ice dispenser on the outside of the door make it easy to stay hydrated rather than using the sink each time. She can roll up to the kitchen sink due to the recessed cabinetry under the sink or stand at counter height to put away dishes from the dishwasher. The dishwasher is ADA and very simple to use , and is raised off the floor so whether she is sitting or standing it's easier to reach. The gas cooktop has controls at the front making it easy to reach from the wheelchair and the exhaust fan above also has a control at the front. All cabinet door handles are D-shape, which makes them easy to grasp and there is plenty of electric outlets for charging phones, computers and small appliances. The kitchen island is table height at 30" so meal prep can be easily done in a wheelchair while guests and can be seated in a chair or wheelchair around the island. The dining chairs can also be turned around to add extra seating in the living room area. Pendant lights above the kitchen island light up the space, while recessed lighting in the kitchen and living room provide overall room lighting. There is also under cabinet lighting which makes the room glow at night! Wainscoting made of commercial grade material is strategically placed on sharp corners and exposed walls to reduce and minimize damage from the wheel chair, while creating a finished and complete look! We selected a free standing microwave to sit below the island, which is easy to use and is the same style as in her previous apartment. The island is 48" from the appliance wall, leaving ample space to open doors and maneuver around in the wheelchair and has easy access to the laundry area as well. We eliminated the bi-fold doors that had been in front of the laundry area for easy access, and since it was exposed, dressed it up with coordinating tile to the kitchen with additional cabinets above. There is a coordinating quartz counter on top of the washer and dryer for folding laundry or storing additional supplies.

This kitchen design and installation is a recently rephotographed project that took place in Angmering, West Sussex. The design of this kitchen has been optimised to suit its location within the house and importantly the customer’s brief, which was to create a space that was social, spacious, homely and a sweeping link between the centre of the home and the garden. An impressive addition to this kitchen is the beautiful copper accents which represent a growing trend in kitchen design at the moment. Thanks to a number of impressive kitchen copper additions this theme is cleverly combined within kitchen appliances and design features.
Kitchen Furniture
The kitchen furniture used for this project is from one of our German supplier Nobilia’s most premium ranges: Lux. The Lux range is aptly named. Its composition utilises a quality lacquer which creates a flawless high-gloss finish and is extremely durable when usual kitchen use is inflicted. The gloss effect Lux range was chosen to reflect the client’s wish of a light kitchen space, with the gloss door fronts bouncing light around the room to create shimmering kitchen space.
The two colour choices Satin Grey and Slate Grey combine perfectly with the use of copper accents, bringing balance to the space. A key feature of this kitchen space is the media area which has been highlighted and surrounded by luxurious glazed glass units and deep pan drawers for storage, which themselves have been upgraded throughout the kitchen to glass sided uprights for extra strength and style.
Kitchen Appliances
Along with kitchen furniture and cabinetry, careful selection of kitchen appliances were chosen for this kitchen not just to match the overall style but to match the necessary daily uses of the customer. The large bank of tall units houses not only cooking appliances, but integrated refrigeration and freezing appliances integrated seamlessly into the furniture. This bank features three ovens from cooking enthusiast inspired manufacturer Neff, in the form of two Slide&Hide single ovens and a Slide&Hide combination microwave oven. The fourth appliance in this appliance grid is a wine cabinet from manufacturer CDA which enables the powerful cooling of up to twenty-four Bordeaux wine bottles.
On the longest run of units in this kitchen a Siemens IQ700 induction hob features in the unique stainless-steel finish, which is not only a stylish and in keeping appliance, it offers several innovative features like intuitive touchSlider operation, flexible induction zone cooking and fryingSensor technology. The most stylish appliance in this kitchen however, is undoubtedly the beautiful Elica Dolce cooker hood, which not only harnesses powerful extraction of cooking fumes but continues the classy copper theme further throughout this kitchen.
Kitchen Features & Accessories
To meet the brief of the customer this kitchen had to be functional, meaning clever storage solutions are included throughout this kitchen. An example of this is the pull-out Dispensa storage from Kesseböhmer which feature either side of the main bank of appliances and enable a small amount of space to harbour useful storage capacity. A Quooker flex boiling tap is used above a Blanco undermounted Silgranite sink which makes a safe boiling water supply accessible from the same faucet as usual cold and warm water.
As part of the installation of this project our electrical team have installed copper pendant lighting centrally above the island, increasing the ability for this kitchen to work as a social space with touch flip plug sockets used in several places for easy access to power. Our Gas Safe registered team have also installed a full-height radiator which is shown in a contemporary grey shade matching the kitchen colour scheme.
Nobilia Kitchen in Angmering, West Sussex
This kitchen boasts so many desirable kitchen features in one space, with the design making the most of every inch of space to fit the initial brief of the customer. In Summer days the kitchen flows out to the large garden through expansive bi-fold doors which show the full beauty of this kitchen design and installation.
In many ways this kitchen epitomises the type of work we are able to undertake, using our various fully employed tradespeople to complete plumbing, electrical, carpentry and flooring work.

Design & LoDesign & Lo were tasked with remodelling a family kitchen in Sussex.
The original kitchen hadn’t been updated for 30+ years and was showing its age. We wanted to be sensitive to the era of the property and produced a balanced modern and traditional design to meet our clients requirements.
As the kitchen was North facing, we were keen to keep the space as light as possible whilst introducing textures and vivid pops of colour, keeping it fresh and neutral in style. One of the key elements of the design was the ceiling panelling we integrated to create a warm, homely and welcoming environment.

Любовь к абстрактным принтам тематически объединила зоны.
Archigram (Студия Евгении Княжевой)Зеленый каркас в этом проекте – любовь к проявлениям всего природного и натурального. Для того, чтобы выявить и подчеркнуть важность растений в интерьере и в профессиональном пути наших заказчиков (а они флористы) мы создали контрастное окружение. Природность некоторых элементов интерьера деликатно выходит на передний план на лаконичном фоне.
Зелёный каркас также заключается в балансе. В проекте мы искали воплощение гармонии технологий и искусства, урбанизма и природы. На балансе базируется философия жизни заказчиков, включающая все сферы от работы до отдыха, от духовности до материальности.
Заказчики: стильные бизнесмены, основным направлением деятельности которых является флористика. Изначальными пожеланиями стала лаконичная цветовая гамма, элементы умного дома и минимализм в деталях. Зеленый каркас – основа семьи заказчиков, так как их жизнь неотъемлемо связана с озеленением и эстетикой природного.
В квартире выполнена тотальная перепланировка. Основные зоны: входная группа с подсобными помещениями, общая зона гостиной-кухни-столовой, детская подростка, примыкающая к общей зоне, мастер спальня с гардеробной и санузлом. Отличительной чертой планировки является отделенная чередой помещений от остальной квартиры спальня хозяев, мы назвали ее спальня-бункер. Все помещения квартиры подверглись перепрошивке и выстроены таким образом, чтобы помимо основных бытовых функций открыть красивые панорамные виды на город.
Прихожая. Лаконичное пространство с подчёркнутой геометрией. Функционально пространство формировали таким образом, чтобы было удобно при необходимости проводить короткие встречи с сотрудниками. Также из тех.задания: место для техники, которую оставляют вместе с мыслями о работе на входе в квартиру, места для роботов пылесосов и т.д. интересная деталь: подвесной платяной шкаф для верхней одежды, который визуально расширяет пространство. При этом функционально под ним размещен остров теплого пола для сушки обуви. Современная живопись изображает в одуванчиках идею красоты простых вещей.
Кухня-гостиная-столовая. Изначально два различных помещения, объединенные в одно. Главное в интерьере этой зоны: панорамный вид на Краснодар. Идея ключевого пространства квартиры в сохранении воздушности при правильном размещении акцентов. Белые стены и мебель символизируют чистоту холста, которую можно наполнить личностью заказчиков.
Кухня г-образной формы с колонной вертикальных шкафов выполнена флагманским салоном Aran. Столешница из натурального гранита, который мы применили для обеденного и журнальных столов. Из интересных деталей: рабочая поверхность сливается с барной стойкой. Также выгодно подчеркивает воздушность интерьера парящий угольный фильтр Elica. Фартук из декоративной штукатурки имитирует поверхность металла, в которой отражается вид на город. за счёт отражающих плоскостей город как бы входит внутрь помещения. В одной из секций колонны организована потайна комната с системой хранения.
Люстры centrsvet олицетворяют одуванчики и поддерживают идею живописи в прихожей. Мотив простой и в тоже время самой идеальной фигуры круга поддержан в опоре обеденного стола. Фактура декоративной штукатурки, нанесенной фирмой Бастет, имитирует сланец, оттеняя чистую белизну остальных стен.
Диван Saiwala выставлен таким образом, чтобы заказчик в любой момент мог сдвинуть модуль и организовать перестановку. Откидные спинки способствуют длительному комфортному времяпрепровождению всей семьёй. Обеденный стол и журнальные столы выполнены под заказ. Шторы на электроприводе, позволяют одним нажатием скрыться от любопытных глаз улицы.
Все покрытие пола бесшовно. Даже в санузлах уложен кварцвинил темно-серого оттенка. Плюс покрытия в его теплопроводности и износостойкости. Именно с покрытиями пола связана затянувшаяся реализация проекта. Изначально весь пол в квартире был другой кварцвинил, но на финальном этапе ремонта, когда уже даже кухня была установлена, он весь деформировался и нам с заказчиками удалось оформить рекламацию. Для этого пришлось снять весь пол, снова разобрать мебель, зановоподготовить поверхность стен. Завод производитель взял образцы полов и пошел навстречу с возвратом средств.
Детская предназначена для молодого человека приближающегося к подростковому возрасту. Юный исследователь, а именно так он себя называет, увлекается конструкторами, астрономией и изобретательством. За счёт лаконичных кругов при сохранении общей гаммы мы отразили интересы заказчика, при этом не превратив интерьер в супер детский. На присоединенной лоджии мы организовали рабочую зону. Чтобы из окон было больше видно город и при этом не менять уровень подлконника, было решено сделать подиум.
Мастер-спальня располагается в отдельном функциональном блоке квартиры, отдаленном от остальных помещений. Гардеробная стала буферной зоной между личным и общим пространством интерьера. Стеклянными фасадами с подсветкой она напоминает зазеркалье для любопытной путешественницы Алисы. Спальня выполнена в оттенках теплого серого цвета. Зеркальные вставки задают ритм и вводят в помещение дополнительный свет, благодаря им интерьер воздушный и лёгкий. Мягкая зона у окна поднята на подиум для максимального открытия панорамных видов. Тут же размещен дамский стол.
Санузел при мастер-спальне поддерживает более теплую цветовую гамму. Монохромный цвет и отсутствие активного декора подчеркивает геометрию помещения. В небольшом пространстве нам удалось разместить все необходимое оборудование. Особенного внимания заслуживает матовая ванна и раковины из камня.
Гостевой санузел выполнен на контрасте в темных тонах, где акцентами стала зелёная сантехника, олицетворяющая идею природного каркаса и устойчивости.
В интерьере много продуманных деталей, наподобие постирочной комнаты, кладовой с морозильной камерой, а также обилие систем хранения, визуально растворяющихся в пространстве.
Квартира оснащена технологиями умного дома, где все приборы подключаются к сети и централизовано управляются. С точки зрения отделки особенностью является филигранная стыковка материалов и покрытий, а как следствие отсутствие потолочных карнизов и плинтусов.
