MENLO PARK TOWNHOUSE
The walnut book cases were original to a house in San Francisco, built in the early 1900’s and was brought to this site by the previous tenants. My clients wanted to remove them or paint them white. But I was able to convince them to leave them intact, nothing that a good cleaning and polish could not take care of. The quality of the old walnut is rare and cannot be replicated, only cherished and cared for. I saw this as an opportunity to contrast with my clients more contemporary aesthetic and also to house his vast collection of books.
