A free-standing wall sets the mood of the home and creates a division between the foyer and living room. A see-through fireplace sits in the center of the wall.

A screen composed of wood slats redirects the flow of traffic upon entry to the house, creating a sense of separation between the entryway and adjacent living room. A bench with built-in shoe storage is nestled into the front bay window, and a long wall of closets accommodate jackets and outerwear, sports equipment, and cleaning supplies. By gradually changing the angle of the slats across the screen, we were able to provide privacy for the family room, while permitting light to penetrate deep into the house from the front window and door.

Upside Development
Upside Development completed an contemporary architectural transformation in Taylor Creek Ranch. Evolving from the belief that a beautiful home is more than just a very large home, this 1940’s bungalow was meticulously redesigned to entertain its next life. It's contemporary architecture is defined by the beautiful play of wood, brick, metal and stone elements. The flow interchanges all around the house between the dark black contrast of brick pillars and the live dynamic grain of the Canadian cedar facade. The multi level roof structure and wrapping canopies create the airy gloom similar to its neighbouring ravine.

Luxury condominium owners in Annapolis needed bookcases for their living room. The design compliments the room-moldings that work well with the existing architecture, proportions that are not over powering, bookcases that step back, leaving the fireplace as the focal point. The divided glass wall is located about 20 feet from the fireplace. This solution provided a divide between the entrance foyer and dining room, without closing in the open-space floor plan.

Beautiful example of a well thought out open space. High cathedral ceilings combined with a fireplace room divider to define the spaces. A designer ceiling fan is incorporated at the top of the stairs to ensure the circulation of the air that normally gets trapped in the higher ceilings. We've abandoned the fig tree in the corner of the room. This bundle of birch logs gives us the height that an artificial tree can but has one advantage: it's real. Bringing some Mother Nature into a room adds another layer to the space. Since it's Christmas, we decided to hang some glass balls, and now we have an amazing new spin on the traditional Christmas tree.
The room divider is made from some lumber and upcycled metal screen. It's a great way to define spaces without breaking up the natural, open feeling of a loft space.

A DIY mirror and custom chalkboard screens provide Halloween accents to this fireplace area. Rich brown paint, rosettes, and shimmering marble tile allow the fireplace to match the tone while staying stylish all year.

This modern loft living space is not lacking in detail. With a large sectional space and individual seating areas, each area takes on its own look. The unique accessories help to add to the look as well.
