The clients had built a magnificent Italianate 'villa' with spectacular views of the Santa Barbara coastline. They had assembled an impressive array of garden objects from around the world which were to be incorporated into the gardens. But the challenges were numerous.
Object scale had to carefully managed in this 40 foot by 80 foot space -- The statuary, hardscape elements, and fountains were carefully separated throughout the landscape, in order to de-emphasize the disparate sizes. Objects included a six-foot high Buddha, a 12" high prayer bell, and a massive 1,500 pound stone urn. Additionally, spectacular tree specimens were chosen and carefully placed to provide a counterweight to the other objects in the garden.

This Hilltop front yard in the Denver Area was constructed in 2012. The existing "builder" landscape" completely failed at dressing up the front of this deserving house. Clients wanted a clever entryway that was more than a simple walkway. The front planter contains "changeable" features that transition with the seasons. During the holiday season, the brick planter is decorated with a Christmas theme.

This is a Credit Valley ledgerock and flagstone raised patio and pool deck. The serviceberry tree is fruiting (edible) right now and adds a great splash of red in the late summer. The stained cedar fence has a plywood backer, which gives the illusion that it is vacant behind the slats. The cap-less ledgerock wall has a very unique feel to it, with the off-centre, sheer descent water feature. The planter for annuals has drip irrigation. Love how the rhododendron, to the left of the water feature, is really starting to stretch over the pool. We can see a sundial type garden ornament at the bottom of the photo, which was selected by the client.
