Traditional, Budget-Friendly Kitchen - Cleveland Park, DC
The original cabinets in this kitchen were a patterned oak with an overused honey stain, and the oak floor was dull and scratched. The tile used for the backsplash and countertops was overly flashy, while the appliances were worn and needed to be replaced regardless of the remodel.
Keeping the budget in mind, we chose to stain the existing cabinet doors and drawer fronts with a custom blend of ebony and just a touch of red and gold. We upgraded the cabinetry hardware with stain nickel pulls which matched a new faucet. We also refinished the floor in a deeper color. In order to contrast the darker cabinets and flooring, we installed light-colored granite countertops and replaced the backsplash with stone of a similar light hue. The end product was a kitchen with a rich color palette and bright work area.
