You could also carry a white throughout your home on all the walls. It's simple, clean, and bright. This would mean repainting all but you don't have to have multiple colors of paint cans! A white pallet creates a really inviting and light feeling space easily accented with a color. Here it looks like they used orange. The rug is obvious, but check out the window towards the back.
While the cushions in this photo may be impractical, a simple Adirondack set might be just as inviting and less maintenance. Staging on the table looks impractical but is inviting nevertheless! We can accomplish with things that won't die in the heat or get blown off from the wind. Heavy decorative stones (think heavy paperweight), bowls, etc. Can get creative.
This is has nice themed red decor. Is a little "heavy" on the furniture in my opinion. I think I have those same curtains! Our home was updated craftsman. :) This photo is a good example of carrying a color throughout the room. Designers choose a color and carry it through the home. It could be a pillow, pot, throw, etc. varying in each room. It ties a space together.
Another inviting outdoor space using a pop of color in chairs. Pops of color can be used effectively to draw the eye away from something and focus elsewhere.
