Is this a 'library ladder' that you stand on and push along? Does it run very smoothly? What happens if you get stuck on the far side? Great concept.

Strictly speaking, it is not a ladder as such. It's a concept dating back to the turn of the 20th century. The owner could stand on the platform and pull himself along a rail at the top. Of course, concerning safety aspects it's risky as there is only the platform and the stairwell below with no rails or other safety paraphernalia.
