Living room design advice

I'm sure my living room is a missed opportunity but I don't really know how to change. I have a large red sofa and large dining room table. maybe it's too big for the room?.... wondering whether to move the tv to the centre of the room. it may be part blocking some light where it is now. what could I do with the wall behind the sofa...new colour?... whole room is almond white

Kommentare (5)I think the lamp above the table is too big and hides part of the picture behind, which is a very nice one. I would prefer a more technical lamp, maybe a rail with some spotlights, possibly suspended. A carpet is a good idea, but I would definitly not put it under the table, because then even more objects would be cluttered in only one half of the room, the carpet should instead lie on the left half of the room in front of the table, so that it is not covered with furniture. It should pick up the style of the picture on the wall. My first idea would be a carpet I own myself, it fits quite nice to the picture: Ligne Roset - Menhir And I would prefer a white dining table, because the colour of the chairs would make a better contrast, the dark wood of table and floor is quite heavy....mehrWhat colour/fabric for soft furnishings
Kommentare (19)Hi Ella, first of all, let me say that you have some really nice vintage pieces in your home! If you are planning to keep the light grey rug I would go with a darker shade of grey for the daybed and a lighter shade or a completely different color for the fabric of the sidechair (e.g. like the dark blue in your third photo) in order to create more contrast and give the room a more dynamic feel. You also mentioned a portrait to be hung above the sideboard - maybe the colors of this picture can aslo inspire the fabrics, it's always nice if the same color pops up in different details of a room. Kommentare (5)Hi Valerie, Thanks a lot for your suggestion. I am trying since forever to find some pillows in a similar color like the mint in the carpet, but with no success till now. The carpet is 190X290 cm, in the pics is not completely unfolded. Hopefully it will fit well. A big piece of artwork is also on my wishlist, but i feel i need to buy those pillows first . I still want to move the tv under the stairs and put the table by the patio doors. need to find a way of running the satellite cable from the wall behind the television to under the stairs. I am starting to think that all my furniture I have had all these years is actually too big for my room!!.

vor 8 JahrenZuletzt geändert: vor 8 JahrenYou hit the nail on the head: your current furniture is way too large, red and bulky. Look at this photo of a similar space with smaller pieces. A sofa with legs allows the eye to travel under. More visual space.
Plus, having the sofa close to wall color blends it away. Contrast makes a space feel smaller.
