Which do you recommend hardsurface or quartz..don't want to do granites ce I have small kids
PROGranite is a wonderful choice as is Quartz. The main difference is that quartz is non-porus so it does not need to be sealed the way granite does. Regardless of which hard surface you choose, always use a trivet/hot pad/cutting board to really protect the counter.
PROI agree with the above comments. I just want to add the look of granite and the look of quartz are so different. Quartz is going to give you a generally more uniform color and pattern. Granite has the natural beauty in variation. Really depends on the style of the area.
PROQuartz can look just like stone if you choose the right comp. for quartz I happen to like Cambria
