Help I want to paint my kitchen pink!
Hi All, I feel like I am going round in circles.
We have had the kitchen dining room knocked through and some new doors and windows put in. It has created a lovely bright space with windows north, east and south.
We decided to keep the kitchen units ( although I don't like them I hate waste) and revamp it with new knobs and cup handles.
Now we have put the new floor in I can't help but feel I want to paint the units dusty pink but husband is totally against which I understand. The walls are all white because we have some lovely paintings and all the tiles are going to be replaced with white glass splashback.
What colour/colours should I paint the units? Any help would be much appreciated!

vor 6 JahrenWell, why not pink. Doesn't have to be all pink. Our not quite finished utility room is Little Green Ashes of Roses and LG Stock deep, you can just see that to right in photo. Walls are Crown trade Soft white. Main light comes from a window to the south out of shot. Looks great and we're very happy with it.

Kommentare (8)I'd suggest a neutral, rather "grown-up" style as a basis and childlike, cute little details to create a room appropriate to your daughter's age. How about a grayish or brownish wall color, like Farrow & Ball's Mouse's Back or Light Gray? Golden Polka dots could be easily applied and removed when you choose wall stickers (https://www.houzz.com/products/vinyl-wall-sticker-decal-art-polka-dots-by-urban-walls-set-of-50-prvw-vr~4971601). They add a cute yet modern and stylish touch. I love this idea! Go for white curtains in case you paint your walls. I personally love the haptic of nya nordiska's LIMA, it's made of wool (http://www.nya.com/de/product/lima). In case of white walls, go for a rather striking curtain. nya nordiska even offers a transparent material with little golden dots (http://www.nya.com/de/product/puntilla-cs)! Now that you have the basis, add colorful details to the room. A striking carpet, a floor lamp, toys... They look great in grayish surroundings but can be changed any time. Kommentare (19)Hi Ella, first of all, let me say that you have some really nice vintage pieces in your home! If you are planning to keep the light grey rug I would go with a darker shade of grey for the daybed and a lighter shade or a completely different color for the fabric of the sidechair (e.g. like the dark blue in your third photo) in order to create more contrast and give the room a more dynamic feel. You also mentioned a portrait to be hung above the sideboard - maybe the colors of this picture can aslo inspire the fabrics, it's always nice if the same color pops up in different details of a room. Kommentare (6)The pillowcase gives you a good impression. For me light colours do not work as good as darker ones. The petrol (right corner) would be great. But what colour does the girls love? If it is pink you go for a darker one or purple. And it is always best to test the look first. So buy just a small sample of the colour and try. Kommentare (5)Hello! I would definitely recommend to take out the wall. Your room will feel so much more spacious and bright because you'll also get the light from the window when you sit at the dining table. Kitchen island is a perfect idea – it creates a lot of extra storage and is ideal for a communicative kitchen/dining situation (no divider between kitchen and dining area). With various shelves and built-in cabinets you can create even more storage room. Living in a space before making any changes is a wise decision – as long as it comes to furniture. vor 6 JahrenZuletzt geändert: vor 6 JahrenI would try Elephants Breath (F&B) for the cabinets and paint the wall behind the lovely chest of drawers Cinder Rose (F&B), if you have a painting that would look good on that. Paintings can really look nice on coloured walls, so you don't have to have all walls white. I'd keep the kitchen cabinets neutral. A paint colour on a wall is easily changed if you change your mind.

vor 6 JahrenCarolina, the chest of drawers is not staying it's going back in to the sitting room i'm afraid but I love that colour of pink. Could I ask if you think it matters painting a feature wall if it has a door or window in it. I was wanting to paint an end wall in the sitting room (maybe cinder rose?) but wasn't sure if it looks odd with a white door in it?

vor 6 Jahrenwow I'd say don't do it. I think it can some times the idea of pink is great but it can turn out to be a Barbie mess. Why not accessorize instead I think you can still have you preferred colour without the Barbie(but if that is what you are after I've also attached a pic of a very pink kitchen)

Kitchens · Mehr InfoThis kitchen was painted in Mylands Soho House. Looks much greyer on their website (and/or on my screen). Pretty though.
I'd probably paint the wall opposite the fireplace a different colour. If the doors were more towards the centre of the wall, I think it would look better if you made that short wall a feature wall. Mind you, I think that you can paint any wall in any colour, as long as you love it.
It also depends on where furniture goes, colour of furniture, colour of art, rugs...
