Colour to acccompany stone wall
Kommentare (3)I agree with the cooler colours suggested above. Your stone wall has plenty of soft, powder pinks and yellows and therefore appears very lively. The biggest mistake people make is to match the beautiful colours of stone with wall paint of equal liveliness which leads to a rivalry between colour and stone. A much subtler approach is needed. Check the stone for it least visible colours create a complimentary colour match. There might be hidden very subtle, sand greys and soft pebble colours which then will let your wall shine in the way you have envisaged it....mehrWhat colour/fabric for soft furnishings
Kommentare (19)Hi Ella, first of all, let me say that you have some really nice vintage pieces in your home! If you are planning to keep the light grey rug I would go with a darker shade of grey for the daybed and a lighter shade or a completely different color for the fabric of the sidechair (e.g. like the dark blue in your third photo) in order to create more contrast and give the room a more dynamic feel. You also mentioned a portrait to be hung above the sideboard - maybe the colors of this picture can aslo inspire the fabrics, it's always nice if the same color pops up in different details of a room. I hope this helps in your decision making process and I would love to see the results. Many greetings Anita Goda from Studio Wunderkammer...mehrRoom design ideas
Kommentare (6)Since you are not allowed to paint the ceiling, it should be the only wooden surface in the room. The floor can be covered by either wall-to-wall carpet or a large rug, but please check if a door that opens into the room will still be operable. Multi-use and visually light furniture is important in such a tight space. I would replace the bunk bed (you're too grown-up anyway) with a nice sleeper sofa like, for instance, Flottebo. And I'd buy a comfy chair that can be used for reading and as a desk chair. It should be unobtrusive and easy to move like this feminine rattan chair. If you don't need a desk on a daily basis, I'd recommend a height-adjustable notebook table (on casters) that can double as a side table next to the sofa/ bed. Again, multi-use is the key. Once you've chosen new furniture, you can decide on curtains, rug/ carpet and other decorative elements. Wall colors are usually the last decision because you can have millions of hues individually mixed. Also consider how much natural light your room gets....mehrWohnzimmer mit schwarzen Bodenfliesen gemütlich einrichten
Kommentare (8)Hello Heidrun, (I will write in English since it is my native language - so I hope it translates well for you 😊) I love the comments from the community so far about incorporating textiles - so many valid points about sound absorption! Have you considered a machine-washable area rug? Due to the practicality, this can be an excellent option for having little ones in the house without sacrificing colour. I recommend a light area rug for the living room to break up the visual weight of the dark floors. To add some personality to the space, I recommend considering furnishings that bring in colour - specifically in sage or blue tones. If, for instance, your sofa or dining chairs are sage or blue, your eyes would be drawn to the pop of colour instead of the dark floors. The walls would instantly feel less bare and act more as a complementary backdrop to the furnishings whilst keeping the space feeling open and airy. Your silver-grey USM shelving would also fit very well with coloured furnishings because it would stand out instead of blending in. For lighting 💡- don't be afraid to add a statement flush-mount lighting fixture in the living room to complete the space. Choosing a light fixture that softly directs light up toward the ceiling will add a warm and spacious feel to the room. And lastly: Consider adding colour to the kitchen to make it feel more warm and inviting. Some budget-friendly options would be to add a backsplash or paint the walls in the kitchen, which would help define this space and bring in personality. Another idea to consider is to paint the kitchen cabinetry. Adding in some form of colour in the kitchen will help bring in the warmth you are missing and develop a sense of dimension so that it doesn't look so "flat". Best of luck and please feel free to write me if you have any questions! Amanda Madu Interiors...mehrUser
