This whole home renovation in Maple Ridge, BC turned this already large rancher into a sprawling new home for this family of 5. Additions to this home totalled over 1,500 square feet on all sides of the home. One wing of the rancher houses rooms for the home-owners 3 sons and the other side is the parents retreat. A gourmet kitchen with and island 15 1/2 feet in length are the centre of this home. A beautiful family room and dining room are just off the kitchen, all featuring circular coffered ceilings. The home also has a gym, massive laundry/mud room, home theatre, custom wine room, and kids playroom. Tired of doing laundry in an unfinished rugged basement? The owners of this 1922 Seward Minneapolis home were as well! They contacted Castle to help them with their basement planning and build for a finished laundry space and new bathroom with shower. Changes were first made to improve the health of the home. Asbestos tile flooring/glue was abated and the following items were added: a sump pump and drain tile, spray foam insulation, a glass block window, and a Panasonic bathroom fan. After the designer and client walked through ideas to improve flow of the space, we decided to eliminate the existing 1/2 bath in the family room and build the new 3/4 bathroom within the existing laundry room. This allowed the family room to be enlarged. Plumbing fixtures in the bathroom include a Kohler, Memoirs® Stately 24″ pedestal bathroom sink, Kohler, Archer® sink faucet and showerhead in polished chrome, and a Kohler, Highline® Comfort Height® toilet with Class Five® flush technology. American Olean 1″ hex tile was installed in the shower’s floor, and subway tile on shower walls all the way up to the ceiling. A custom frameless glass shower enclosure finishes the sleek, open design. Highly wear-resistant Adura luxury vinyl tile flooring runs throughout the entire bathroom and laundry room areas. The full laundry room was finished to include new walls and ceilings. Beautiful shaker-style cabinetry with beadboard panels in white linen was chosen, along with glossy white cultured marble countertops from Central Marble, a Blanco, Precis 27″ single bowl granite composite sink in cafe brown, and a Kohler, Bellera® sink faucet. We also decided to save and restore some original pieces in the home, like their existing 5-panel doors; one of which was repurposed into a pocket door for the new bathroom. The homeowners completed the basement finish with new carpeting in the family room. The whole basement feels fresh, new, and has a great flow.   Free ebook, Creating the Ideal Kitchen. DOWNLOAD NOW   This Chicago client was tired of living with her outdated and not-so-functional kitchen and came in for an update. The goals were to update the look of the space, enclose the washer/dryer, upgrade the appliances and the cabinets. The space is located in turn-of-the-century brownstone, so we tried to stay in keeping with that era but provide an updated and functional space. One of the primary challenges of this project was a chimney that jutted into the space. The old configuration meandered around the chimney creating some strange configurations and odd depths for the countertop. We finally decided that just flushing out the wall along the chimney instead would create a cleaner look and in the end a better functioning space. It also created the opportunity to access those new pockets of space behind the wall with appliance garages to create a unique and functional feature. The new galley kitchen has the sink on one side and the range opposite with the refrigerator on the end of the run. This very functional layout also provides large runs of counter space and plenty of storage. The washer/dryer were relocated to the opposite side of the kitchen per the client's request, and hide behind a large custom bi-fold door when not in use. A wine fridge and microwave are tucked under the counter so that the primary visual is the custom mullioned doors with antique glass and custom marble backsplash design. White cabinetry, Carrera countertops and an apron sink complete the vintage feel of the space, and polished nickel hardware and light fixtures add a little bit of bling. HOMEOWNER DESIRED OUTCOME As part of an interior remodel and 200 sf room addition, to include a kitchen and guest bath remodel, these Dallas homeowners wanted to convert an existing laundry room into an updated laundry/mudroom. OUR CREATIVE SOLUTION The original laundry room, along with the surrounding home office and guest bath, were completely reconfigured and taken down to the studs. A small addition expanded the living space by about 200 sf allowing Blackline Renovations to build a larger laundry/mudroom space. The new laundry/mudroom now features a stacked washer and dryer with adjacent countertop space for folding and plenty of hidden cabinet storage. The new built-in bench with lockers features a v-groove back to match the paneling used in the adjacent hall bathroom. Timeless!

Mit einer kleinen Arbeitsfläche lässt sich selbst ein kleiner Abstellraum für die Hausarbeit nutzen. Für die Einrichtung einer Waschküche sollten die notwendigen Anschlüsse für Waschmaschine, Trockner oder ein Spülbecken vorhanden sein. So mancher Tierfreund plant hier sogar eine Dusche ein, um den Hund zu waschen. Auch ein Schrank oder Ablagen zum Verstauen von Wasch- und Putzmittel stellen eine Erleichterung beim Hausputz dar. Praktisch ist es, wenn die Wäsche nach dem Waschgang sofort aufgehängt werden kann, entweder an einer Leine oder einem Wäscheständer, der wie das Bügelbrett in ein Schranksystem integriert werden kann. Als Bodenbelag für die Waschküche bieten sich Fliesen oder ein robuster PVC an. Diese lassen sich leicht reinigen und vertragen Feuchtigkeit besser als Holzböden.

Ist ausreichend Platz vorhanden, kann Wäsche hier nicht nur gewaschen, sondern auch sortiert und aufgehängt werden. Praktisch sind ausklappbare Wäscheständer: sie können im Schrank oder an der Wand befestigt werden und nehmen nur wenig Platz weg. Mit Garderobenstangen zur Hemdenaufhängung nutzen Sie den Raum zwischen zwei Schränken. Angenehm ist auch die Installation von einem Ausgussbecken im Abstellraum: hier kann man sich nach getaner Hausarbeit die Hände waschen oder Kleidungsstücke einweichen.

Haushaltsraum und Waschküche freundlich einrichten

Um sich bei der Hausarbeit nicht abgeschottet zu fühlen, ist eine helle und freundliche Einrichtung im Haushaltsraum wichtig. Versuchen Sie trotz der Zweckmäßigkeit der Einrichtung, den Hauswirtschaftsraum persönlich zu gestalten: streichen Sie Wände und Türen in Ihrer Lieblingsfarbe oder dekorieren Sie Tische und Ablagen mit Topfpflanzen. Ordnung trägt entscheidend zum Wohlbefinden bei – denken Sie daher an Aufbewahrungskörbe oder Wandhaken.
