Our poster project for The Three P's, this small midcentury home south of campus has great bones but lacked vibrancy - a je ne sais quoi that the clients were searching to savoir once and for all. SYI worked with them to nail down a design direction and furniture plan, and they decided to invest in the big-impact items first: built-ins and lighting and a fresh paint job that included a beautiful deep blue-green line around the windows. The vintage rug was an Etsy score at an awesome price, but only after the client spent months scouring options and sources online that matched the vision and dimensions of the plan. A good year later, the West Elm sofa went on sale, so the client took advantage; some time after that, they painted the kitchen, created the drop zone / bench area, and rounded out the room with occasional tables and accessories. Their lesson: in patience, and details, there is beauty.

This classic Brighton townhouse was stuck in a 90’s sea of beige, beige beige with dated front entry doors.
The entry is very important to a house facade and first impressions matter.
Our clients asked us to modernise the look of the facade starting with a concept for replacing the front doors.
We completely removed the original entry doors and busy sidelight frames and replaced them with black flat panel doors.
We then picked up the classic black theme by painting out all exterior house window frames and trims, including the fence railings.
The theme now continues indoors with beige start railings painted a crisp black.

This award-winning and intimate cottage was rebuilt on the site of a deteriorating outbuilding. Doubling as a custom jewelry studio and guest retreat, the cottage’s timeless design was inspired by old National Parks rough-stone shelters that the owners had fallen in love with. A single living space boasts custom built-ins for jewelry work, a Murphy bed for overnight guests, and a stone fireplace for warmth and relaxation. A cozy loft nestles behind rustic timber trusses above. Expansive sliding glass doors open to an outdoor living terrace overlooking a serene wooded meadow.

Fine Iron – Architectural Ironworkers
Our traditional wrought iron 'Ring' design door canopy is a fantastic addition to this front entrance!
We particularly like how the ironwork design echoes the design of the stained glass panels in the front door and the side window.

in addition to Interior Design, we offer one-of-a-kind furniture refinishing. This writing desk was stripped and stained while the body was painted in a matte black color. This has one large drawer for added storage and is situated right next to the front door for connivence. The large mirror above showcases the mudroom and stairs.

This entry leads directly to the living room, dining room and adjacent staircase. Warm and inviting, the tonal color concept receives a pop of color from the accessories, lighting and artwork. A textural cream color shag rug defines the space. Contemporary updates include a modern drop 'ping-pong' light fixture and floating glass shelving plus tomato soup-y red lacquer nesting table which is a set of three from the 19670's.
