Tim Wood Limited
This kitchen was designed for The House and Garden show house which was organised by the IDDA (now The British Institute of Interior Design). Tim Wood was invited to design the kitchen for the showhouse in the style of a Mediterranean villa. Tim Wood designed the kitchen area which ran seamlessly into the dining room, the open garden area next to it was designed by Kevin Mc Cloud.
This bespoke kitchen was made from maple with quilted maple inset panels. All the drawers were made of solid maple and dovetailed and the handles were specially designed in pewter. The work surfaces were made from white limestone and the sink from a solid limestone block. A large storage cupboard contains baskets for food and/or children's toys. The larder cupboard houses a limestone base for putting hot food on and flush maple double sockets for electrical appliances. This maple kitchen has a pale and stylish look with timeless appeal.

An older Germantown home is given a makeover for the new millennium that includes just a hint in Millennial Pink. 21st century amenities like a double oven range, french door refrigerator, and large storage pantry will stand the test of time.

A walk in pantry concealed by a sliding door has been used as a feature. The black frame and pulley system adds a contrast, and compliments the timber well.
The character generated by this kitchen comes from the clients ability to accessories this kitchen with heart and passion.
An eclectic gather of textures, colors and materials work perfectly together to create a welcoming and functional area to entertain from, and provide for your family.
Full high ceiling tiles, open timber shelving, a mixture of timber laminate and concrete bench top surfaces, and an assortment of bar stools all contribute their own special character to this wonderful kitchen.
Lagois Design Build Renovate
This family of four wanted to open up their compartmentalized floor plan to create a kitchen that would become the center of their entertaining areas. Aesthetically they wanted to incorporate some fun elements into the design with pops of color and unique lighting and flooring selections. Although they wanted to encourage flow between their kitchen, family and dining rooms, they wanted to maintain the formality of the dining room.
A structural wall between the kitchen and living areas required some creative thinking. We were able to eliminate the wall by aligning the structural posts with the posts in the basement. To open up the kitchen space and provide outdoor access, the main staircase was moved to a more central location. Hydronic in-floor heating and a ductless air-conditioning unit provide energy efficient temperature control.
The new layout of the kitchen allows the cook to socialize and interact with family and guests in the family and dining rooms. A desk area was created to separate the dining area, but does not block traffic flow or sight lines. The large island offers plenty of prep space and seats four comfortably. A new eight-foot patio door integrates the outdoor space and doesn’t interfere with the functionality of the kitchen.
The red tile backsplash adds a punch of color that pairs perfectly with the gray cabinets and white quartz countertop. The honeycomb tile pattern is fun and adds unexpected personality to the whole space.

Hidden in this near westside neighborhood of modest midcentury ranches is a multi-acre back yard that feels worlds away from the hustle of the city. These homeowners knew they had a gem, but their cramped and dim interior and lack of outdoor living space kept them from the full enjoyment of it. They said they wanted us to design them a deck and screen porch; we replied, "sure! but don't you want a better connection to that luscious outdoor space from the inside, too?" The whole back of the house was eventually transformed, inside and out. We opened up and united the former kitchen and dining, and took over an extra bedroom for a semi-open tv room that is tucked behind a built-in bar. Light now streams in through windows and doors and skylights that weren't there before. Simple, natural materials tie to the expansive yard and huge trees beyond the deck and also provide a quiet backdrop for the homeowners' colorful boho style and enviable collection of house plants.

Yes, you read the title right. Small updates DO make a BIG difference. Whether it’s updating a color, finish, or even the smallest: changing out the hardware, these minor updates together can all make a big difference in the space. For our Flashback Friday Feature, we have a perfect example of how you can make some small updates to revamp the entire space! The best of all, we replaced the door and drawer fronts, and added a small cabinet (removing the soffit, making the cabinets go to the ceiling) making this space seem like it’s been outfitted with a brand new kitchen! If you ask us, that’s a great way of value engineering and getting the best value out of your dollars! To learn more about this project, continue reading below!
Cabinets
As mentioned above, we removed the existing cabinet door and drawer fronts and replaced them with a more updated shaker style door/drawer fronts supplied by Woodmont. We removed the soffits and added an extra cabinet on the cooktop wall, taking the cabinets to the ceiling. This small update provides additional storage, and gives the space a new look!
Countertops
Bye-bye laminate, and hello quartz! As our clients were starting to notice the wear-and-tear of their original laminate tops, they knew they wanted something durable and that could last. Well, what better to install than quartz? Providing our clients with something that’s not only easy to maintain, but also modern was exactly what they wanted in their updated kitchen!
Backsplash
The original backsplash was a plain white 4×4″ tile and left much to be desired. Having lived with this backsplash for years, our clients wanted something more exciting and eye-catching. I can safely say that this small update delivered! We installed an eye-popping glass tile in blues, browns, and whites from Hirsch Glass tile in the Gemstone Collection.
Hardware
You’d think hardware doesn’t make a huge difference in a space, but it does! It adds not only the feel of good quality but also adds some character to the space. Here we have installed Amerock Blackrock knobs and pulls in Satin Nickel.
Other Fixtures
To top off the functionality and usability of the space, we installed a new sink and faucet. The sink and faucet is something used every day, so having something of great quality is much appreciated especially when so frequently used. From Kohler, we have an under-mount castiron sink in Palermo Blue. From Blanco, we have a single-hole, and pull-out spray faucet.
Flooring
Last but not least, we installed cork flooring. The cork provides and soft and cushiony feel and is great on your feet!
