Need help furnish open space living room/kitchen

Trying to figure out how best utilize this space. Love the concrete patch but not sure how to make best use of it. Trying to do a combined living room setup with desk/mini office, maybe at end left corner? And maybe find a kitchen island to make kitchen more interesting and not so thrown up against the wall. Ideas?

Furniture: for living room I have white modern leather couch and oversized matching chair (see picture) with light wooden sides and a very low coffee table, also light wood. A white lacquer parsons desk for work station. Need a tv console station and maybe some credenzas. I like the whites and minimalistic feel but think maybe kitchen should be more rustic/industrial? Don't know how to combine these. Want apt to feel light, bright and open.

Also want to take out carpet. Not sure whether I should go for the concrete underneath and have it polished or go for wooden floors. What do you think?

I would go with wood floors from the kitchen to the living area, maybe a white wash grey. Like these:

I would recommend using dark stained floors. This way the concrete wall will pop!

I think the lamp above the table is too big and hides part of the picture behind, which is a very nice one. I would prefer a more technical lamp, maybe a rail with some spotlights, possibly suspended. A carpet is a good idea, but I would definitly not put it under the table, because then even more objects would be cluttered in only one half of the room, the carpet should instead lie on the left half of the room in front of the table, so that it is not covered with furniture. It should pick up the style of the picture on the wall. My first idea would be a carpet I own myself, it fits quite nice to the picture: Ligne Roset - Menhir And I would prefer a white dining table, because the colour of the chairs would make a better contrast, the dark wood of table and floor is quite heavy.

Hi Ella, first of all, let me say that you have some really nice vintage pieces in your home! If you are planning to keep the light grey rug I would go with a darker shade of grey for the daybed and a lighter shade or a completely different color for the fabric of the sidechair (e.g. like the dark blue in your third photo) in order to create more contrast and give the room a more dynamic feel. You also mentioned a portrait to be hung above the sideboard - maybe the colors of this picture can aslo inspire the fabrics, it's always nice if the same color pops up in different details of a room. Hello! I would definitely recommend to take out the wall. Your room will feel so much more spacious and bright because you'll also get the light from the window when you sit at the dining table. Kitchen island is a perfect idea – it creates a lot of extra storage and is ideal for a communicative kitchen/dining situation (no divider between kitchen and dining area). With various shelves and built-in cabinets you can create even more storage room. Living in a space before making any changes is a wise decision – as long as it comes to furniture. When it's about taking out a wall you'll probably never do that later on ;) Happy to discuss if you need more inspiration / ideas – Just book a time that suits you. Cheers Anna

Hi---do the entire space with porcelain tile which looks like wood... I would put in a small table for two/three on the wall opposite the sink... (see pic) a desk/work area situated between the kitchen and concrete-would give it a built-in look. Paint the walls a warm gray/taupe so it doesn't look "cold" and add rugs/hides for that rustic vibe you like. I hope this is helpful. Good Luck and CongratS!
