What kind of bulbs?

Hi!
I think this is a fantastic idea and would definitely be something I would love to have in my own home. I was wondering what type of bulbs these rods use? Additionally- when the time comes to replace them, would they be something I could get at a local home improvement store or are they a specialty item I would need to order online?

Hello Rosanna,

Thank you for your question! These curtain rods use LED lights which are more energy efficiant and durable than incandesent bulbs. The specifications vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, but generally these LEDs are rated for 50,000+ lifetime hours- they would probably not need to be changed. Most manufacturers design the rods so that the LEDs cannot be replaced, so in the unlikely event that the LEDs reached the end of their lifetime, a new curtain rod assembly would need to be purchased.

Hallo kathhhiii, zunächst einmal vielen Dank für die neuen Bilder! Damit läßt sich auf jeden Fall schon viiieeel mehr erkennen und sich einen ganz anderen Eindruck vom Raum machen. Und: mein Vorschlag mit dem Drehen des Sofas hat sich - so wie sich die Situation jetzt darstellt - auch erledigt. - Man hätte keine Sicht mehr aufs Fernsehen und die Nische an sich scheint zu Schmal für das Sofa. Mich würde der Abstand zwischen Sofa und Fernseher aber gar nicht so sehr stören, weil ich es gerne mit etwas Platz dazwischen mag, Die Farbe vom Sofa finde ich - auch jetzt - immer noch sehr passend zum Boden und finde, dass der Braunton dem Raum bei aller Modernität etwas Warmes gibt. Wenn Euch nun das alte Sofa (so alt sieht es gar nicht aus) zu volumiös ist und Ihr unbedingt etwas neues kaufen wollt, dann würde ich wahrscheinlich wieder nach einem solchen Ton schauen. Alternativ könnte ich mir noch einen dunkleren Blauton vorstellen. Die Nische mit der grauen Bilderwand kommt so, wie das Sofa jetzt steht eigentlich gar nicht so richtig zur Geltung. Insofern würde ich vorschlagen: Neues, zierlicheres Sofa ohne Recalmiere kaufen und an die Stelle, an der noch das alte steht stellen. - Aber etwas von der Wand abgerückt. Dazu 1-2 (im Optimalfall drehbare) Clubsessel und diese gegenüber des Sofas oder schräg zur Seite hin stellen. (Alternativ: ein Sessel und ein Pouf. - Sind bei Bedarf 2 Sitzplätze, oder abends ein gemütlicher Platz zum Beine hochlegen = Ersatz für Recalmiere). An der grauen Wand könnte ich entweder eine, zum Bestandsmöbel passende oder frei an der Wand hängende weiße Anrichte vorstellen, die a) Platz für weitere Bilder , Bücher, Dekoration und Stauraum für Decken, Spielzeug etc.bietet. Tisch, Lampe, Teppich, etc. würde ich in jedem Fall behalten. LG!

I´ve read that article as well and think your statement is absolutely right: the meaning - or maybe better - the worth of correct lighting seems to be underestimatet. Clients often rather invest in design of a certain lamp than in quality of light. Another interesting fact you mentioned is the choice of surface in accordance to LED-lighting to minimize reflections. - Easy to understand but seemingly often forgotten. When we built our new home, my wish was a complete, in parts dimmable LED lighting system, that we realized in collaboration with a lighting designer. - So some of your aspects were already base of our working together. And although it looks rather technically (what I love indeed) it´s able to create both: warm light in the evening whilst sittig together with friends and family and a clear bright light for (e.g.) working or cooking. But apart of my own "homemade" experiences, I think it is a stunning service you offer clients by visiting all these projects at the fair and assess them under the specific criteria of correct lighting. Thumbs up! - Wish that more of the readers here notice your work and share it. It is a "mission" for you, isn´t it. ;-)

Hi Nicola, thank you so so much. Its just so nice. So pretty. The good thing is its not a mind bender. I was already thinking something on the lines. But the elements had to fit together. And now it looks they do. What I had not thought at all is the upholstery thing. It’s so nice. Even if I cannot do uphostry , I have gotten the idea now. I would somehow make the back of shelves and the heastbound side of bed same or coordinated, in order to make it kind of cozy niche corner as you have nicely put it. For shelves I was thinking to use a single piece or may a two pieces of 4x4 shelves like IKEA Kalax to creat a kind of partition of about 120 cm As I said I was thinking of similar things but as it comes from an expert I feel very happy. One more thing. For the colors would you recommend the ones I see already in the Sketsch??? Secondly, for the floor in the second / Upper room i was thinking of using small rugs in different colors witha kind of collage ( the pupose being easy maintainece, as a bigger carpet has to be send for professional carpet cleaners or need carpet cleaning machine). Small rugs if one is spoiled is easier to replace , which not easy in case of a bigger one that is wall to wall and heavy. Small rugs are easy to clean an rearrange. Of course under that I can add a light floor matt under these rugs to hold them together.( In both cases what colors , should be good. I mean if I add one piece carpet that would be almost half of the room, which colors should I take) or do you think it will make the rather smaller place look too busy and I should go for a full size carpet? What do you say about that. Thank you so much for your lovely idea and the inpus; in terms of actual work / sketch and your time. Best of regards

Hello! I would definitely recommend to take out the wall. Your room will feel so much more spacious and bright because you'll also get the light from the window when you sit at the dining table. Kitchen island is a perfect idea – it creates a lot of extra storage and is ideal for a communicative kitchen/dining situation (no divider between kitchen and dining area). With various shelves and built-in cabinets you can create even more storage room. Living in a space before making any changes is a wise decision – as long as it comes to furniture. When it's about taking out a wall you'll probably never do that later on ;) Happy to discuss if you need more inspiration / ideas – Just book a time that suits you. Cheers Anna
