Kitchen wall & backsplash

Looking for recommendations for what color to paint the kitchen walls that would go with the Quartz I have pictured (cambria Montgomery). Ideally looking for a cool color. Also need backsplash suggestions as well. Was thinking using the sea foam colored glass subway tiles to bring out the blue/green veining in the Quartz. I'm going for more of a traditional look if possible and the cabinets will be white/slightly off white. Thanks for your help!

Kommentare (4)Dear Maxime, your discription of floor sounds like the german called "Steinholz" floor. It is possible for more details in picture. If its an historic Steinholz Estrich, you can restore with less effort. I am a specialist for these tecnology. Kommentare (19)Hi Ella, first of all, let me say that you have some really nice vintage pieces in your home! If you are planning to keep the light grey rug I would go with a darker shade of grey for the daybed and a lighter shade or a completely different color for the fabric of the sidechair (e.g. like the dark blue in your third photo) in order to create more contrast and give the room a more dynamic feel. You also mentioned a portrait to be hung above the sideboard - maybe the colors of this picture can aslo inspire the fabrics, it's always nice if the same color pops up in different details of a room. Your room will feel so much more spacious and bright because you'll also get the light from the window when you sit at the dining table. Kitchen island is a perfect idea – it creates a lot of extra storage and is ideal for a communicative kitchen/dining situation (no divider between kitchen and dining area). With various shelves and built-in cabinets you can create even more storage room. Living in a space before making any changes is a wise decision – as long as it comes to furniture. When it's about taking out a wall you'll probably never do that later on ;) Happy to discuss if you need more inspiration / ideas – Just book a time that suits you. Have you considered a machine-washable area rug? Due to the practicality, this can be an excellent option for having little ones in the house without sacrificing colour. I recommend a light area rug for the living room to break up the visual weight of the dark floors. To add some personality to the space, I recommend considering furnishings that bring in colour - specifically in sage or blue tones. If, for instance, your sofa or dining chairs are sage or blue, your eyes would be drawn to the pop of colour instead of the dark floors. The walls would instantly feel less bare and act more as a complementary backdrop to the furnishings whilst keeping the space feeling open and airy. Your silver-grey USM shelving would also fit very well with coloured furnishings because it would stand out instead of blending in. For lighting 💡- don't be afraid to add a statement flush-mount lighting fixture in the living room to complete the space. Choosing a light fixture that softly directs light up toward the ceiling will add a warm and spacious feel to the room. And lastly: Consider adding colour to the kitchen to make it feel more warm and inviting. Some budget-friendly options would be to add a backsplash or paint the walls in the kitchen, which would help define this space and bring in personality. vor 7 JahrenThank you for everyone's suggestions. April you had amazing suggestions and I loved all of them! We live in a two story brick home from 1928. Very neat house with lots of hardwood (floors, moulding, built-ins) and lots of arches. Right now the cabinets are stained and this is the backsplash we are going to do... I do plan to paint the cabinets. They just don't look right (weren't stained well) next to the built-ins (which we were attempting to match). I painted the walls November Rain BM (not pictured) cause that's what cambria recommended to go with the Quartz but I'm not loving it. It looks almost dingy (kind of an off white gray/green color) in some lights so definitely still looking for a new paint color. Thinking of doing Alabaster SW for the cabinets but definitely could use some suggestions for that as well!
