Help with window replacement

I have stained windows and doors throughout my house. We have just moved here and I need to replace the windows. In some rooms I may keep the stained wood but in others it will be painted. I want to use a window consistent in color throughout. Do you think it will look weird to have beige windows with stained framing? This is the picture of the room that I will not paint the trim.

Why beige rather than white? You'll need to watch the undertone colors in the beige. It can work, but in a room like this with a lot of existing stain that you intend to keep, I would use new windows that are the vinyl on the exterior and a stainable wood on the interior. In other rooms that do not have as much existing stain work, you could use the less expensive paint or vinyl finish windows. Your windows need to be consistent on the outside and consistent in any rooms that are open to each other, but in a room behind a door they can change.

Actually, beige will lighten the look of your windows but you would have to carry out the look at least throughout the room if not throughout the house. But in the end, it all boils down to what you like. If all of your windows are not uniformed, and you think that may bother you, then don't go with beige. Continue with the stained wood windows.

I think the lamp above the table is too big and hides part of the picture behind, which is a very nice one. I would prefer a more technical lamp, maybe a rail with some spotlights, possibly suspended. A carpet is a good idea, but I would definitly not put it under the table, because then even more objects would be cluttered in only one half of the room, the carpet should instead lie on the left half of the room in front of the table, so that it is not covered with furniture. It should pick up the style of the picture on the wall. My first idea would be a carpet I own myself, it fits quite nice to the picture: Ligne Roset - Menhir And I would prefer a white dining table, because the colour of the chairs would make a better contrast, the dark wood of table and floor is quite heavy.

Hi Ella, wow, that looks like a real challenge... The really low "Kniestock" together with your size doesn´t work well. I think you need to move the kitchen pretty far into the room to be able to properly move around and operate the kitchen. For instance if you imagine standing in front of the sink - if i read the floorplan correctly, if you move just a little bit to the right, you´ll bump your head into the angled wall. In addition, the whole area below the angled wall is actually not usable for a worktop area, because it´s just too low. Even if you place storage room there, it´s not really comfortable to reach. Can you add some more picture of the rest of the room? I think you need a complete layout including dining area and living room area and not only focus on the kitchen. Cheers, TH

Hi Ginger, what a lovely view into your garden! - totally agree with to get those yellow curtains out asap...well when it comes to those good old shutter straps (yeah so German!) and how to make them disappear there are mainly two solutions to go: motorist them or take them off. Hiding them with a moulding might admit another solution - but possibly not the most nice looking result I guess... Looking forward to get some extra information on your kids room project...I suggest none of the pro's at Houzz Germany Community will be miserly with a give away ;-) Cheerio & Bests JS

I also think it depends on how much light gets in so that the place doesn't get too dark. With the dark floor I would probably go for white, as it's a nice contrast and will make the space feel less 'heavy'.

Susan is correct...you definitely need to keep consistency on the exterior preferably throughout your home. As Susan mentioned the interior look can be different in separate rooms. We have had great success with Marvin and Anderson clad windows. They are at a similar level of quality and engineering. Marvin just introduced a new range of interior woods and pre-staining. Susan you asked why beige instead of white. I think white is so stark and I want something to blend. We are on a budget because there is a list very long of things to do. I want a maintenance free window both inside and outside. On the outside the windows will be beige or almond as well. I have seen rooms that contrast the wood to a color surface and I thought it freshened the look somewhat. I guess bottom line if it looks bad I will have to paint the wood. I could use the windows with the wood look interior but then I'm afraid I will want to change it in the future. So many decisions and so much room to make mistakes. Trinette I agree that it will freshen the look. Thanks for your help.
