Curtains

Need help deciding on the color of my curtains. Deciding between this "taupe gray" curtain which is hanging in the pic, or if I should go lighter, like a khaki or beige. I was considering these other colors pictured.

Also, was planning to put sheers, but can't decide if I should hang them next to the colored curtains as pictured, or layer it behind on another rod with rod-pocket sheers. Please, any and all opinions welcome! Thank u!

I would go with the grey so that they stand out against the wall.

Have you considered light blocking curtains? I just bought some this year from Target when I redid my bedroom. They block 99% of the light coming in, especially when you install rods that curve back on either side of the window to the wall. I had a pull down shades under valances for 20 years, and had no idea what we were missing until i found these. Mine are a rich deep gray that would look nice against your floor.

I think the lamp above the table is too big and hides part of the picture behind, which is a very nice one. I would prefer a more technical lamp, maybe a rail with some spotlights, possibly suspended. A carpet is a good idea, but I would definitly not put it under the table, because then even more objects would be cluttered in only one half of the room, the carpet should instead lie on the left half of the room in front of the table, so that it is not covered with furniture. It should pick up the style of the picture on the wall. My first idea would be a carpet I own myself, it fits quite nice to the picture: Ligne Roset - Menhir And I would prefer a white dining table, because the colour of the chairs would make a better contrast, the dark wood of table and floor is quite heavy.

I'd suggest a neutral, rather "grown-up" style as a basis and childlike, cute little details to create a room appropriate to your daughter's age. How about a grayish or brownish wall color, like Farrow & Ball's Mouse's Back or Light Gray? Golden Polka dots could be easily applied and removed when you choose wall stickers (https://www.houzz.com/products/vinyl-wall-sticker-decal-art-polka-dots-by-urban-walls-set-of-50-prvw-vr~4971601). They add a cute yet modern and stylish touch. I love this idea! Go for white curtains in case you paint your walls. I personally love the haptic of nya nordiska's LIMA, it's made of wool (http://www.nya.com/de/product/lima). In case of white walls, go for a rather striking curtain. nya nordiska even offers a transparent material with little golden dots (http://www.nya.com/de/product/puntilla-cs)! Now that you have the basis, add colorful details to the room. A striking carpet, a floor lamp, toys... They look great in grayish surroundings but can be changed any time. Der Monitor ist vielleicht etwas zu dominant mitten im Zimmer. Wahrscheinlich hätte ich oben in die Rückwand, welche ja sowieso verkoffert wurde, einen Beamer platziert und in die Decke einen "Fake"-Sturz eingezogen, aus der die Kino-Leinwand bei Bedarf elek(tron)isch ausgefahren wird.

Since you are not allowed to paint the ceiling, it should be the only wooden surface in the room. The floor can be covered by either wall-to-wall carpet or a large rug, but please check if a door that opens into the room will still be operable. Multi-use and visually light furniture is important in such a tight space. I would replace the bunk bed (you're too grown-up anyway) with a nice sleeper sofa like, for instance, Flottebo. And I'd buy a comfy chair that can be used for reading and as a desk chair. It should be unobtrusive and easy to move like this feminine rattan chair. If you don't need a desk on a daily basis, I'd recommend a height-adjustable notebook table (on casters) that can double as a side table next to the sofa/ bed. Again, multi-use is the key. Once you've chosen new furniture, you can decide on curtains, rug/ carpet and other decorative elements. Wall colors are usually the last decision because you can have millions of hues individually mixed. Also consider how much natural light your room gets.

I would also choose the darker color. It will add warmth to the room.

I like the first photo. If you want to layer them, you'll probably put the sheer behind the darker color, but really not necessary.

Have you decided on artwork for those walls?

Thanks everyone for the comments. I'm going with the darker tone, and will layer with a sheer. I found a curtain that's a little lighter than the one originally pictured that's a little folder with a slight sheen. Now, just have to place my order for the longer length.

@KShoa....I'm still looking for artwork for the wall. Not sure what to put up. And actually, still finalizing whether I like the pillows, coverlet. But I think the lamps have to go.

I think the lamps are fine, but you can go larger since they're a tad bit small for the size of your bed. Not sure how much color you're looking for, but you can always do that with accessories and art.

Take a look at some of Ikea's oversized canvases, they have a couple that are fabulous and the colors would work here. I actually just purchased one that is a bridge walking into a rain forest that might be cool. You'd have to go to the store though, don't see them online.
