Neil Kelly CompanyWe moved the kitchen to the opposite side of the room to provide a better overall layout with more cabinets and continuous countertop space. Cabinets were placed under clerestory windows, allowing them to act as a light shelf and exponentially increasing natural light in the space. We removed the dropped ceiling to open up the space and create more evenly dispersed natural light.
New appliances were installed, including a separate cooktop and wall oven to accommodate different cooking and baking zones. We implemented a warm Pacific Northwest material pallet with quarter-sawn oak cabinets, and added neutral yet sharp finishes in black, white, and chrome.
Homes And Such LLCThis modern home nestled in the beautiful Los Altos Hills area is being remodeled both inside and out with a minimalist vibe to make the most of the breathtaking valley views. With limited structural changes to maximize the function of the home and showcase the view, the main goal of this project is to completely furnish for a busy active family of five who loves outdoors, entertaining, and fitness. Because the client wishes to extensively use the outdoor spaces, this project is also about recreating key rooms outside on the 3-tier patio so this family can enjoy all this home has to offer.

Amazing SpacesThis is a great house. Perched high on a private, heavily wooded site, it has a rustic contemporary aesthetic. Vaulted ceilings, sky lights, large windows and natural materials punctuate the main spaces. The existing large format mosaic slate floor grabs your attention upon entering the home extending throughout the foyer, kitchen, and family room.
Specific requirements included a larger island with workspace for each of the homeowners featuring a homemade pasta station which requires small appliances on lift-up mechanisms as well as a custom-designed pasta drying rack. Both chefs wanted their own prep sink on the island complete with a garbage “shoot” which we concealed below sliding cutting boards. A second and overwhelming requirement was storage for a large collection of dishes, serving platters, specialty utensils, cooking equipment and such. To meet those needs we took the opportunity to get creative with storage: sliding doors were designed for a coffee station adjacent to the main sink; hid the steam oven, microwave and toaster oven within a stainless steel niche hidden behind pantry doors; added a narrow base cabinet adjacent to the range for their large spice collection; concealed a small broom closet behind the refrigerator; and filled the only available wall with full-height storage complete with a small niche for charging phones and organizing mail. We added 48” high base cabinets behind the main sink to function as a bar/buffet counter as well as overflow for kitchen items.
The client’s existing vintage commercial grade Wolf stove and hood commands attention with a tall backdrop of exposed brick from the fireplace in the adjacent living room. We loved the rustic appeal of the brick along with the existing wood beams, and complimented those elements with wired brushed white oak cabinets. The grayish stain ties in the floor color while the slab door style brings a modern element to the space. We lightened the color scheme with a mix of white marble and quartz countertops. The waterfall countertop adjacent to the dining table shows off the amazing veining of the marble while adding contrast to the floor. Special materials are used throughout, featured on the textured leather-wrapped pantry doors, patina zinc bar countertop, and hand-stitched leather cabinet hardware. We took advantage of the tall ceilings by adding two walnut linear pendants over the island that create a sculptural effect and coordinated them with the new dining pendant and three wall sconces on the beam over the main sink.

Emerald City Construction & RenovationsOur project involved a complete gutting and reframing of the main level of a stunning lake home located in Seattle, WA. Inspired by the minimalist Japandi design style, our goal was to transform the space into a serene and sustainable living environment that reflects the client's dream home.
One of the major highlights of the remodel was vaulting the ceilings, which instantly added a sense of spaciousness and grandeur to the main level. This design element created an open and airy atmosphere, allowing natural light to flow freely throughout the space, and enhancing the connection between the indoors and the picturesque lake views outside.
To align with the client's vision of an eco-friendly home, we carefully selected green building materials for the remodel. From sustainably-sourced wood for the flooring and trim, to low VOC paint for the walls, we prioritized environmentally-friendly options that are both beautiful and sustainable. We also incorporated energy-efficient lighting fixtures and appliances, as well as water-saving fixtures, to reduce the home's carbon footprint and create a more sustainable living space.
The minimalist Japandi design aesthetic was brought to life through the use of a muted color palette, with soft earth tones and calming neutrals dominating the interior. Clean lines, simple forms, and natural textures were incorporated into the design, creating a harmonious blend of Japanese and Scandinavian influences. The result is a serene and tranquil space that exudes simplicity, functionality, and timeless elegance.
Throughout the main level, we carefully curated furniture, fixtures, and decor that complemented the minimalist Japandi design concept. Thoughtfully selected furniture pieces with clean lines and natural materials were used, along with carefully chosen accent pieces such as shoji screens, tatami mats, and bonsai trees that added authentic Japanese touches to the space.
Overall, the main level interior remodel of this lake home in Seattle, WA was a labor of love, bringing the client's dream home to life while incorporating sustainable and eco-friendly design principles. The result is a stunning living space that seamlessly blends minimalist Japandi design with a serene lakeside environment, providing a perfect retreat for the homeowners to enjoy for years to come.

Beyond the beautiful exterior, there is so much well-thought-out storage and function behind each and every cabinet door. The two beautiful blue countertop towers that frame the modern wood hood and cooktop are two intricately designed larder cabinets built to meet the homeowner’s exact needs.
The larder cabinet on the left is designed as a beverage center with apothecary drawers designed for housing beverage stir sticks, sugar packets, creamers, and other misc. coffee and home bar supplies. A wine glass rack and shelves provides optimal storage for a full collection of glassware while a power supply in the back helps power coffee & espresso (machines, blenders, grinders and other small appliances that could be used for daily beverage creations. The roll-out shelf makes it easier to fill clean and operate each appliance while also making it easy to put away. Pocket doors tuck out of the way and into the cabinet so you can easily leave open for your household or guests to access, but easily shut the cabinet doors and conceal when you’re ready to tidy up.
Beneath the beverage center larder is a drawer designed with 2 layers of multi-tasking storage for utensils and additional beverage supplies storage with space for tea packets, and a full drawer of K-Cup storage. The cabinet below uses powered roll-out shelves to create the perfect breakfast center with power for a toaster and divided storage to organize all the daily fixings and pantry items the household needs for their morning routine.
On the right, the second larder is the ultimate hub and center for the homeowner’s baking tasks. A wide roll-out shelf helps store heavy small appliances like a KitchenAid Mixer while making them easy to use, clean, and put away. Shelves and a set of apothecary drawers help house an assortment of baking tools, ingredients, mixing bowls and cookbooks. Beneath the counter a drawer and a set of roll-out shelves in various heights provides more easy access storage for pantry items, misc. baking accessories, rolling pins, mixing bowls, and more.
The kitchen island provides a large worktop, seating for 3-4 guests, and even more storage! The back of the island includes an appliance lift cabinet used for a sewing machine for the homeowner’s beloved hobby, a deep drawer built for organizing a full collection of dishware, a waste recycling bin, and more!
All and all this kitchen is as functional as it is beautiful!

We opened up the dividing wall between the kitchen and living room to create a peninsula with seating, with an open-table look with an open-ended cabinet for displaying treasures. We used a white painted upper to lighten up the space, on top of beautiful blonde maple bases.
