The open layout of this newly renovated home is spacious enough for the clients home work office. The exposed beam and slat wall provide architectural interest . And there is plenty of room for the client's eclectic art collection.

Right from the beginning it was evident that this Coquitlam Renovation was unique. It’s first impression was memorable as immediately after entering the front door, just past the dining table, there was a tree growing in the middle of home! Upon further inspection of the space it became apparent that this home had undergone several alterations during its lifetime... Additional details like the geometric wall paper in the foyer, the vintage light fixture in the living room, and the bold drapery help to tie everything together to create a cohesive mid-century modern feel throughout the entire home.

Extend a warm welcome with the presence of a tall walnut closet cabinet in your front entry. It graciously stores coats, bags, and shoes, while its walnut beauty harmoniously unites with the design elements found in the living room and other spaces throughout the main floor, creating a cohesive and inviting ambiance.

For this two-story Queen Anne-style Edwardian, we utilized a neutral color palette of ivory, greige, and taupe with splashes of watery blues and greens. The clients are a couple with hectic work schedules who needed a tranquil retreat where they could relax and recharge. Throughout the home, we painted walls, ceilings, and trim a clean, crisp white paint. Against this shell, streamlined silhouettes and organic shapes, create continuity from room to room. As a counterpoint to classical architecture, we installed mid-century styled furnishings and contemporary art.

We special ordered this door to bring in light with the frosted glass panels in a series of equal rectangles. This light fixture is a wire framed sculptural accent that brings levity to the design and visual interest. We pulled in the orange pop of color on the door only to work with the island front and column details. The wall to the right use to be a full wall that we cut out a ten by ten foot pass through into and created a built in bench that also works as extra seating for the sitting room to the right.

This 1956 John Calder Mackay home had been poorly renovated in years past. We kept the 1400 sqft footprint of the home, but re-oriented and re-imagined the bland white kitchen to a midcentury olive green kitchen that opened up the sight lines to the wall of glass facing the rear yard. We chose materials that felt authentic and appropriate for the house: handmade glazed ceramics, bricks inspired by the California coast, natural white oaks heavy in grain, and honed marbles in complementary hues to the earth tones we peppered throughout the hard and soft finishes. This project was featured in the Wall Street Journal in April 2022.
