What do you do when you have a beautiful existing marble fireplace, and no room to utilize it in? When all the new space-planning was said and done, all that was left was a hallway-no proper location for a fireplace. To rectify this situation and remake the fireplace a focal point, a small space was carved out of the old left over living room space directly across from the fireplace. The new space is in the mid-point of a new hallway that connects the front hall to the new home office and guest bedroom. The client also had a large book collection, so it was advantageous to have a large amount of book shelving. The hall proved to be the perfect place to create multiple bookshelf niches, now becoming a library "room".Now the new hall and existing fireplace serve the wonderful purpose of providing a small sanctuary to relax in front of a fire and read a book.
