new kitchen layout

Hi guys,

We are currently in the planning process of getting a rear extension done - this will be 4 meters out by 5 meters across. I am trying to do a kitchen/diner idea at the moment incase anything needs to change.

Hopefully the plan below shows. Anyway I was thinking of having units in a L shape, starting at the door at the bottom right hand corner then going round to the french doors. Possibly have a line of floor units across the left hand side wall. and then a dining table in the middle.

There will be a folding door at the bottom where the opening is showing currently. THinking of having a hob on the right had wall half way down with the sink in front of the window. But can't think where to put the fridge/freezer (ideally american style) and the washing machine/Drier. For the latter I was thinking of having them just as you come into the kitch from the doorway, but not sure if this would be the best use of space.

any ideas would be much appreciated

Hi Uzma!

My instinct in this area would be to flip the room and use the 4m wall for appliances, larder and sink with a deep island running parallel with additional storage, worktop and casual seating, leaving the rest of the room for a more intimate dining area. People often initially feel that storage and worktop space will be restricted but with a good use of drawers there will be no problems. Also the way an island is used will maximise surface space.

thanks for the suggestion. Ideally I would like to do that, but lets just say not all parties are in agreement :D Plus there is a French door leading to the garden, wouldn't this cause an issue with being in the way of the island?

Dear Maxime, your discription of floor sounds like the german called "Steinholz" floor. It is possible for more details in picture. If its an historic Steinholz Estrich, you can restore with less effort. I am a specialist for these tecnology. Hi again, I am about to make a construction work. I am planning to buy new kitchen. The idea is remove the wall between the kitchen and dining room. I am thinking about new kitchen with island. I will appreciate for kitchen arrangement. As well we are planning to add additional toilette in bathroom, I want to add some more space and shift the living room entrance to kitchen direction. As well I am missing a cloth closet at entrance and no place to add it. I am attaching my plan for kitchen, living room and the dining room, but want to add some storage in kitchen. If you have better ideas for living room design/kitchen/dinning room it would be perfect. original plan without bedrooms. My design

If the doors opened outwards then this would work. This layout is one we consistently get exceptional feedback about. Where are you based, we maybe able to help?
