I need help picking out a kitchen sink

I have to pick a kitchen sink by tomorrow and I cannot decide between an apron front farm sink and a cast iron drop in. I love the farm sink look and functionality but have read comments from owners about the grime/sludge that builds up on the lip and is hard to clean. Then I decided on a drop in cast iron and started reading that they scratch and chip easily now due to recent EPA regulations. I'd love to hear from you about your sink - love it or hate it I'd like to know. Thanks so much! Here's a pic of the kitchen before the renovations began - the peninsula is no longer there - the kitchen is open but we will add an island.

vor 10 JahrenI have a deep stainless drop in D shape. It's been in place since renovating in 2005 and I love it.never seems to scratch and I really appreciate the depth .

Need help with my dining room
Kommentare (5)I think the lamp above the table is too big and hides part of the picture behind, which is a very nice one. I would prefer a more technical lamp, maybe a rail with some spotlights, possibly suspended. A carpet is a good idea, but I would definitly not put it under the table, because then even more objects would be cluttered in only one half of the room, the carpet should instead lie on the left half of the room in front of the table, so that it is not covered with furniture. It should pick up the style of the picture on the wall. My first idea would be a carpet I own myself, it fits quite nice to the picture: Ligne Roset - Menhir And I would prefer a white dining table, because the colour of the chairs would make a better contrast, the dark wood of table and floor is quite heavy....mehrUnique kitchen layout
Kommentare (11)Hi Ella, wow, that looks like a real challenge... The really low "Kniestock" together with your size doesn´t work well. I think you need to move the kitchen pretty far into the room to be able to properly move around and operate the kitchen. For instance if you imagine standing in front of the sink - if i read the floorplan correctly, if you move just a little bit to the right, you´ll bump your head into the angled wall. In addition, the whole area below the angled wall is actually not usable for a worktop area, because it´s just too low. Even if you place storage room there, it´s not really comfortable to reach. Can you add some more picture of the rest of the room? I think you need a complete layout including dining area and living room area and not only focus on the kitchen. Kommentare (9)Hey Alice, Yes I know, it's so hard to pick one as there are so many beautiful ones! Yes, I would definitely choose one that's shorter than the sideboard! You could go for something white and simple or something made out of the same wood as the table legs or something that matches the metallic thingy over the desk. I think I would choose a simply white one or a metallic one. Or you could also just put a picture ledge there and then put the artwork on it and maybe a nice candle or a small plant. Depending on the shelf and the size of the artwork, I would put the artwork on it :) Also you shouldn't hang it too high, it shouldn't lose look disconnected from the sideboard. I would say about as high as the grid over the desk but it also depends on the shelf. Kommentare (5)Hello! I would definitely recommend to take out the wall. Your room will feel so much more spacious and bright because you'll also get the light from the window when you sit at the dining table. Kitchen island is a perfect idea – it creates a lot of extra storage and is ideal for a communicative kitchen/dining situation (no divider between kitchen and dining area). With various shelves and built-in cabinets you can create even more storage room. Living in a space before making any changes is a wise decision – as long as it comes to furniture. When it's about taking out a wall you'll probably never do that later on ;) Happy to discuss if you need more inspiration / ideas – Just book a time that suits you. Cheers Anna...mehr

vor 10 JahrenApron fronts look good in certain kinds of kitchens. I have a friend who has a soapstone one and I actually don't like reaching over and down into it, and... she has just one sink. You can get a huge canner pot in there but overall ... I don't like it. I'm glad I got to test drive hers...
I prefer at least a double sink so I can have things going on (washing and rinsing my dishes...) and I want a triple bowl (with the small third) so I can have my disposer handy as I go.
I grew up with a double stainless, and it took the abuse well; you have to pick a good solid high quality sink. I despise the enameled weird 'stepped in' double I had that's all chipped up and a strange sickly light yellow. Thanks for the heads up about the Vigo, I will look into those.
I will suggest that if you don't go with an ultra deep sink get a high arc faucet. I had replaced the one in this house with one and it makes life much better dealing with tall stuff. However it's not a stellar brand, decided to leak like nobody's business and is in the junk with the rest of the stuff I ripped out and never want to see again.
Picture is a 3 bowl sink with the third for the disposer.

Sorry for not having a relevant pic but I was there today and do have a current one I will post. Yes, I am keeping the brick floors. We are painting the cabinets and window trim off white/creamy white and the walls a creamy light yellow, changing to quartzite countertops and adding an island- there's a mockup of it in the picture. I would say the house is traditional with a natural, rustic feel. I'm thinking I'll get a farmhouse sink after all. Thanks for your time!
