Dig Your Garden Landscape DesignPhotos taken just after installation, there are more recent photos in this project. The front areas of this landscape were transformed from a tired, water thirsty lawn into a contemporary setting with dramatic concrete pavers leading to the home's entrance and a new driveway using large concrete slabs with small black pebbles set in resin. Plants for sun and part shade complete this project, just completed in February 2014. Project by Studio H:T principal in charge Brad Tomecek (now with Tomecek Studio Architecture). This urban infill project juxtaposes a tall, slender curved circulation space against a rectangular living space. The tall curved metal wall was a result of bulk plane restrictions and the need to provide privacy from the public decks of the adjacent three story triplex. This element becomes the focus of the residence both visually and experientially. It acts as sun catcher that brings light down through the house from morning until early afternoon. At night it becomes a glowing, welcoming sail for visitors.

A J Miller Landscape Architecture PLLCA recessed seating area surrounded by shade plants and clump bamboo. The sectional faces a copper fire pit and steel sculpture. This area is complete with landscape lighting for the evening.
UserThe garden is defined by a series of rock walls holding raised gardens beds and a winding pathway of gravel. Raised beds allow the plants to spill over into the path, working with the twisting trail to obscure a traveler’s view and create a sense of mystery around the bend.
