Dragonfly Ponds & Patios LLCThis project was a challenge to integrate the existing grade and still achieve the customer's goals which were: a patio area for entertaining, space along the pool, and room for a fire pit. We were able to achieve all these goals in our design and use the grading challenges to enhance the landscape by adding boulder walls and a beautiful pool waterfall.

We updated this backyard in conjunction with an architectural addition. The new architecture provides many new vantage points to contemplate the garden and we have created distinct views from the breakfast, the family room, and the gazebo. The renovation of the garden created new outdoor spaces for planting and family gatherings. After this project's completion, the clients held their daughter's wedding in the garden.
Collaborating with stone masons, we created handsome dry-stack retaining walls that provided level areas. We blended warm ledge stone and lichen-covered moss rock in some places for visual variety while in other places we let the elegant stonework act as the focal point.
We were inspired by the regal stand of redwoods on the site that encloses the garden in privacy and provides dappled light throughout. The planting palette formed around their distinct character. We selected green and red Japanese maples as well as dogwoods to complement the colors of the redwoods, and accommodated for the horticultural qualities by choosing shade-lovers such as hydrangeas, hellebores, astilbe, and ferns to create a luscious understory.
In sunnier areas, we dappled the garden with our client's favorite roses and cutting perennials. Raised beds of edible plantings provide nourishment for family gatherings.

This 3,000+ sq.ft home (with a total of 4 bedrooms and 4 baths, incl. an additional bedroom in a train car) was purchased by new owners, who saw the need of adding outdoor fun amenities in order to turn the Wild West-themes compound into a successful rental place.
We designed and built a more than 400 sq.ft Ipe wood deck, with a built-in hot tub, cowboy tub and seating with firepit. Additionally, we redesigned and furnished the saloon, which is used as a room to eat, party and chill with a group of people.
The Outlaw provides sweeping views of undeveloped wilderness, expensive unpolluted view of the stars, and is surrounded by 17 acres of natural topography. All in the center of the booming area Pioneertown, just a few minutes away from Pappy and Harriet’s and The Red Dog saloon.

Kane Brothers, Inc.After years of returning to the flat plains of the Midwest from their travels throughout the Rocky Mountains, the owners of this residence charged Kane Brothers with the design and construction of their dream landscape, bringing the Western Ranges to their home.
More than 150 species of plants and trees mutually-native to the Rocky Mountain and Midwest regions were added to establish credibility and biodiversity. A 130-foot stream winds its way through paths, plants, and waterfalls, eventually encircling a 2,000 square foot, multi-tiered patio space constructed of massive slabs of naturally cleft stone. The large bluestone patio and boulder retaining walls complement the architecture of the home while creating a natural transition from its interior into the landscape.
An extensive lighting system provides a dramatic setting against the tapestry of the gardens offering intimate entertaining spaces and striking focal points. Other amenities in this Kane Brothers Environment include a tennis/sports court, putting green, walking paths, and a fire pit fashioned within a boulder wall for an inviting space perfect for an evening glass of wine or s’mores.
