“Robert M. Cain was the architect for my home, completed in 2009. Photos are elsewhere on this site. Robert M. Cain (Bob) is a brilliant designer and superlative master of construction oversight. As the project began, he listened carefully to us and perfectly and seamlessly incorporated our desires into the house. The building is both beautiful and extremely comfortable. It is a LEED Platinum Home. It has many high performance features such as solar panels and geothermal heat pumps. Passive solar concepts are inherent in the design and allow us the be comfortable much of the year without heating or air conditioning. It has many windows and feels like it is in a forest, although the location is urban. It is a calm and cheerful house. “My family and I used Rob Koch to design a complete renovation and expansion of our summer place in Hendersonville NC. The design was fairly challenging due to the age of the existing structures and the desire to blend the expansion and the original cabin into a cohesive unit without sacrificing the traditions and unique features of the original. This was a major two-story project involving the design and building of a new kitchen, two new bedrooms, a huge recreational area/loft, two new bathrooms, a washer and dryer area, two water heater closets, and the renovation of a third bathroom and a second loft. We are now enjoying the new, expanding house with no problems. “Daniel Martin designed a deck that spanned the back of our house. The deck included planters, seating, multiple levels, lighting and access from the front of the house. I would describe Danny's designs as understated--a cross between Frank Lloyd Wright and the mission style. The deck was designed for heavy entertaining. He was very focused on designing the deck to fit our needs. Danny even considered natural light and the positioning of the sun on the deck throughout the day as well as designing for privacy. Danny was always open to our feedback and we made several adjustments throughout the project.
