Designed by Oak & Orange, this Palm Springs Retreat exudes a cool coastal vibe with mid-century modern design. The clean lines of the timber-look aluminium battens used on the façade create a modern design statement that accentuates the home's style. Finished in natural Snow Gum by DecoWood, these battens created a relaxed atmosphere of warmth and elegance. Designer: Oak & Orange Photo: The Palm Co.

Architects Modern This mid-century modern home was designed by the architect Charles Goodman in 1950. Janet Bloomberg, a KUBE partner, completely renovated it, retaining but enhancing the spirit of the original home. None of the rooms were relocated, but the house was opened up and restructured, and fresh finishes and colors were introduced throughout. A new powder room was tucked into the space of a hall closet, and built-in storage was created in every possible location - not a single square foot is left unused. Existing mechanical and electrical systems were replaced, creating a modern home within the shell of the original historic structure. Floor-to-ceiling glass in every room allows the outside to flow seamlessly with the interior, making the small footprint feel substantially larger. photos: Greg Powers Photography

This mid century modern ranch had it's original Eichler style panel siding restored and painted from having vinyl on top of it for many years. We added Tigerwood siding with modern metal channel corners, and added brick done in a bond stacked pattern. Collaboration between Siding Design Pro and the client Cream Modern, a local custom furniture designer.

This is a comprehensive renovation of an early midcentury home in Portland. Finishes and fixtures were chosen for a warm contemporary feel to blend well with the home's origins, and we custom designed all new cabinetry, trim, and moldings. The remodel includes major energy updates--the client now powers their car via the roof's solar panels! Photos by Anna M Campbell
