“When we built our home on the Wye River in Talbot County, MD 12 years ago, we knew we wanted a large, comfortable master bedroom. Well, we got large and all the architectural components to make it wonderful---fabulous fireplace, floor to ceiling windows overlooking the water, & custom millwork. What we never got around to was comfortable. Our bedroom ended up being the place where all the old furniture---and a treadmill---went to die. Not a happy picture. Enter designers Amanda Friend & Jamie Merida from Bountiful. After clearing out the debris and keeping the pine antiques we loved, the pair created an oasis that we truly enjoy being in at all times of the day. We added a couch, and upholstered bed and two upholstered, swivel chairs that allow us to alternately enjoy the view, the fireplace, and the TV. Color cues came from the blues and greens outside our windows. A friend calls the result "study in blue." I find that it just makes me smile. I've always been horrible at choosing fabrics. This is where Bountiful really came through. When I fell in love with a chair fabric I was afraid was a little too lively, they showed me how to make it work by pairing it with "tamer" fabric on the couch & bed. Finally, after 12 years of living with the leftovers, we have the bedroom we wanted all along.”
